It was late, I was starving and some Chinese food was on my mind. I got a taxi to Chinatown only to find out that most places close there at 8:00pm!!! Anyway, Hop Woo was open and seemed busy so in I went. My Irish accent mixed with the waiters inability to understand it, made for an interesting exchange when... More

Waiters serving us were indifferent, inefficient and clueless about the menu. Waited really long for service and food to be served. Black chicken soup was tasty and warming, but everything else was mediocre at best and barely edible at worst, with clams being the latter. They weren't cooked properly and there was dirt to be found in them. Roast pork... More

We were spending a few nights in LA Chinatown and thought we grab a late night meal here. The place had quite a few customers, mostly Chinese, but not overly crowded. The service was fine, and the hot tea very good. The food itself I thought was just okay and nothing out of the ordinary. Not great, not bad. The... More

Stopped by for Peking duck to go. Got home and had a fabulous meal. The duck was moist and well cooked. The service was excellent and faster than they had said. I was a walk in so expected to wait. Cant wait to go again when driving too/past L.A.

Maybe my hometown has great Chinese food, because this was nothing out of the ordinary. It still an interesting experience, we went late at night after the theater. We did get accused of walking out on our bill as we left, which was weird and took a bit to straighten out. But we had fun eating a late meal in... More

There is a Metro Gold line train stop for Chinatown so we decided to take a ride to look around and have Sunday afternoon lunch. We arrived just before it got crowded. We did a little shopping for some Asian fruits and some Asian balms, then went to this busy restaurant to have some traditional Chinese food. They have take... More

I went in this place because the pictures on the posted menu seemed promising. As I walked in I was approached by an Asian lady in a light pink garment with a heavy Chinese accent. She sat me down and I asked her if their "Mongolian Beef" was made with green or white onions ( green being the correct method,... More

We went to the restaurant for dumplings and were not disappointed. They were fresh and flavorful. We ordered the Orange Peel Chicken and were surprised at the size of the serving. It was enough for three persons. The chicken was tender and the sauce was perfect! The restaurant doesn't look like much from the sidewalk and the interior is a... More
