Attended a work luncheon and was surprised at the choice because of the surrounding neighborhood. DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET as your vehicle is subject to vandalism by the many homeless and vagrant people occupying the sidewalks. I can only imagine what it is...like at night. The food was only average Latin cuisine. I've had better and I've had worse. Nothing really stood out. The atmosphere is a little noisy (although it might be quieter in the evening). Not sure if I would return for lunch, but I would definitely be reluctant to visit at night.More

The spelling of the restaurant name confuses the spell checker but we certainly weren't confused about the quality that this higher-end Mexican restaurant offers to its patrons! The creative Mexican cookery combined with the lovely restaurant ambiance led to an enjoyable culinary experience. There is...no dish on the menu that will taste anything like what you've come to enjoy (or not) in a usual Mexican restaurant. Even the guacamole has a twist by including serranos and spicy pepitas within the mash. The Mexican salad with cotija pesto bread crumbs and agave-lime vinaigrette speaks for itself! The chicken and steak dishes gave our party of six plenty of variety to choose from. However, the dearth of obvious vegetarian courses affected our party's opinion regarding the breadth of their food; in fact, the menu isn't particularly large (aside from chicken and fish) so that would account for the lack of vegetarian options too.More

Of all the Restaurants to chose from this one was a “hit” with college and HS kids. Fabulous guacamole, margaritas, and tender carne asade. The owner Jesse was very hospitable and let me have the suisa sauce for enchiladas normally a lunchtime item. Normally I...skip dessert but the churro ice cream and flan was my favorite dessert this year. Maybe next time we visit he will have added Texas style queso to his menu since he has roots in Tejas.More

The food, service and drinks here were excellent. It’s in a terrible neighborhood which is unfortunate. I was taking an Uber so I was able to get it and out quickly but not sure I’d park my car here. Sad that the city has such...a huge issue with Skid Row and I have to imagine it negatively impacts this excellent restaurant.More

I love this restaurant. I have been coming to this place for about 10 years. It does not look like a great place from the outside. But, once you enter this place, you know you are going to have a fine dining experience. The service...is great. All of the dishes are fabulous. That being said, I especially love the "carnitas." They also make some great margaritas. If you are in downtown LA and are looking for a great dining experience, I highly recommend Yxta.More

This place is in a shady area but worth the trip. Excellent food, service and margaritas. I had the special spicy mango margarita which was fresh and refreshing. The guacamole was seasoned perfectly and I had the chicken huarache appetizer which was very different and...delicious. I travel often and am always looking for good Mexican and this was excellent. I also had three different servers and each of them was friendly and attentive.More

I love this restaurant. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you go inside it is a classy place. The servers are great and the food is delicious. There is patio seating is nice and they are great with accommodating large groups.

This Mexican restaurant is located near some very good restaurants listed by TripAdvisor. I found it because the other ones were fully booked. It was a good find! A small but well thought out menu of tacos etc. I particularly enjoyed a tasty pork stew...with some freshly made tortillas. The staff is friendly. Seems like a nice neighbourhood restaurant.More

I instantly loved the restaurant when I walked in and received a very warm greeting. I was meeting a friend and was seated at a spacious table. One server came by with menus and offered drinks and guacamole. The melon/pineapple fresh fruit drink was excellent...but I wish they wouldn't add any sugar as the fruit is tasty without it. The guac was delicious and beautifully presented but it was the chips that came with it that were out of this world delicious and obviously homemade. My friend and I ordered two platters of tacos and shared them. The fish tacos were good but could use a little more flavor. The pork tacos were absolutely delicious. I am still thinking about them. The service was excellent and our server answered questions about the small restaurant chain and the new one opening in Pasadena but under the name Mercado. Yxta Cocina is located in an up and coming area of downtown (still a number of homeless tents around though) and has its own parking lot. It is valet but the nice valet allowed me to park my own car. I will definitely return to this restaurant.More

Part of the growing restaurant group run by Jesse Gomez and Jose Acevedo, Yxta is a large, bright, open and airy space, located just a short drive from the downtown business district (the most direct route is through skid row, so if that isn't your...thing, you can ignore Waze and take the long way around). Valet parking is available in the restaurant lot. The food was very good and the place had a buzzing vibe. There were enough interesting dishes on the menu, that I plan to visit again and try other things.More

I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of the client for a meeting. It is located in not the best areas but offers valet parking for $2 during lunch and $4 for dinner. We were immediately greeted upon entering and because we had a reservation,...were seated right away. Lunch time gets busy so reservations are recommended. It was extremely hot and muggy outside, 95 degrees, and unfortunately the restaurant wasn't much cooler. The decor and seating was very modern with classic Mexican accents. They have a full bar and yummy cocktails produced out of it. We decided on aguas frescas to help with the heat and because they are all so refreshing. The special was a barramundi dish with cucumber salad so I decided to go with that again since it sounded so refreshing and perfect for the hot day and it was recommended by the waiter. It was everything I hoped it would be. I wished there was more fish, not because the portion was small, but because it was so good. It was very busy but a great vibe that the staff contributed to. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely be visiting as there are many other delicious-sounding menu items and drinks I want to try.More

We went for Dine LA. My appetizer (Mexican toast) was really good; fresh and delicious! The entree was another story. I ordered the carnitas. I think the chef was having a fight with the salt - and the salt won! The carnitas were so over...salted - it was inedible. I took it home a repurposed for tacos the next day. The desserts were Flan (very good but huge ) or Churros Ice Cream, which sounded really good, but was Vile! The service was excellent and attentive. Overall, it was fine but would probably not go back.More

Real Mexican food and good atmosphere in this restaurant. Big space, comfortable and good service. A big, but not exaggerated, variety of dishes and drinks, fresh and tasty.

A unique take on Mexican food. They arent afraid to add spice or flavor like many places. The interior is decorated in bright colors and seemed initially a bit weird, but, strangely, it kinda matched the unique food and in the end seemed perfectly fitting!...We had a great meal and a great time in a casual setting with better than casual food!!More

Have been here twice, both times with work friends....it's light and fun. The Happy Hour drinks and food are great. And for dinner, I recommend the steak...it was the best I've had in a long time.

We were only a group of 15 and took up little space. From what I remember, 60 could be the entire room which would be nice for your group but that would probably include the bar area as well as opposed to a grand table... More
