My wife and I ate here on our trip to l.a. This place had some delicious sandwiches at a reasonable price... for l.a. of course. Congrats on the great food.

Whether you want a hearty breakfast or a French dip sandwich, which this place originated. No waiters. You get in line and place your order and pay, and in just minutes, your food is in front of you. Sawdust on the floors. Plenty of seating and parking. Walk around and look at all the historic pictures and other items. I... More

Philippe's the Original has been in the same location for decades. Classic old school diner with different sides and deserts behind the counter. The double dipped beef sandwich is fantastic! A great and legendary place to get a quick meal if you are in the area.

The cafe is located in an easy walk from Union station in downtown LA. It is actually in between Chinatown and olvera st. The fare is ordinary grub, eggs, cakes and other such foods but the atmosphere is quite unique, almost like a factory w/I a cafe. At one time the coffee here was ten cents a cup,but that was four years... More

If you are near union station, pop across the road and have a fantastic French dipped beef sandwich, I did. Arrived at 11.30 am and stood in a queue. 1x beef and blue cheese sandwich, double dipped with pickled beetroot and a glass of lemonade. 10 out of 10. Saw dust on the floor and a sea of tables and... You can feel the history at this classic LA eatery. Terrific french dip sandwiches Pickled eggs. Long wood benches. Friendly counter workers. Parking in the back. Right across the street from Union Station and next door to Chinatown. I love this place. It's just so LA.

Great place to eat before the game----great menu----famous for beef, lamb dip--single or double dip?? Get the 2 side dip and add a beer or potato salad---or a slice of pie?? Great place to hang out before or after the game.Parking is a little difficult, but spaces become available pretty regularly.

Four of us stopped in for a quick meal before an event near the Staples Center, mostly because we've known of the place for decades and never been there. It's not likely we'll visit again. The double-dipped beef sandwiches may be famous, but we found them bland and under seasoned. The lemon meringue pie for dessert was the high point... More

Very popular among DTLA and outside LA locals for its history, OTC design, and delicious sandwich. One of the best French dip sandwiches anywhere. Love the feeling of this historical place, a bit rude workers, and tasty, stomach filling food. Soaking the French bread, until it turns an oily yellow brown is a delight and adds flavor. DO not be... More
