I really love the Umami burger. The combinations of flavors are perfect. I have tried other burgers there too and enjoyed them all but the Umami is my favorite. The fries and tator tots are fantastic too. Very crispy. Their homemade ketchup is wonderful. The La Brea location can get cramped because it's small. My favorite location is the Los... More

I went to Umami Burger with no expectations and not a whole lot of research. Wow! What a wonderful meal. The menu is simple and easy to understand - close to a dozen burgers - but it was so hard to make a choice because everything sounded so good. My husband and I split the original Umami Burger and also... More

There are burger houses and there are burger houses...then there are Umami Burgers! The place is understated decor-wise. Clean, open and very helpful staff. Then there came the burgers! Freshly made in house, using first class meats. The taste is different and good! Umami gives burgers an upgrade in quality, and value. If and when you have tasted and thrived... More

I was taken here with friends, I had the Manly burger and it was excellent. The sweet potato fries were also great. I was particularly taken by the attention to detail in homemade condiments etc... My only gripe was that my friend wanted to swap out the turkey burger for a beef patty but keep all the toppings but they... More

My boyfriend and I were both super excited about our first trip to umami which ended up being our last. The burgers were so soaked in grease that the buns were soggy and there was no real flavor involved! I guess they relied on the fat from the grease being the juiciness and the flavor but fat-flavored burgers aren't really... More

My friend took me here to eat for my birthday. I tried the Mushroom Burger and it was delicious (not delish). Overall the food was definitely good but I don't think I'd drive all the way out from the SGV just for this place, when I could just easily go to in and out or a local hole in the... More

First, let me start by saying. I am not a hamburger person. I prefer Hot Dogs. After eating Umami Burger, I am a hamburger person. Great Hamburgers I must admit. It is small and pricy but the taste is undenialable. If you are new to LA or never been here, just try it. I prefer this place to other Hamburger... More

I've been to the Umami Burger in Studio City. Great looking place, love the dark walls, the funky chandeliers, the outdoor stools. Wildly popular. Excellent burgers, juicy and delicious. Super fries with fun choice of dipping sauces. But, c'mon, a burger, no matter how delicious, should never be more than $10.

The burgers are fine. The combinations are interesting. I like the sodas they carry and the fries are real real good. I prefer Father's Office or Go Burger or even Fat Dog for burgers. Crowded and not the best in my book, but definitely worth a try.

Just had lunch yesterday at the new Umami in The Grove.. Unless you sit outside where there is limited seating, forget having a conversation while you dine. Unbelievable loud. The service was good, the burger excellent, the sweet potato fries not to my liking, sweet and cinnamony. I'd suggest sticking to one of their other locations. ps they don't validate... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
