We were encouraged by our concierge to try L'Opera and expected it to be touristy, which is is, including opera singing. When we arrived and saw the place was decorated in old world decor, we were also not optimistic. However, the food was really good! As was the service. Pastas were homemade, including a vegetarian ravioli which my fussy eater... More

Can you find my table?? Arrived at 7:15 with a reservation. They could not find it - said needed a few minutes. My colleague who made the reservation showed up a few minutes later - still could not find it, then said it would be 15 or 20 minutes. Looked in the dining room - it was half full with... More

Walking up to L'Opera, I had high expectations, as the building itself is quite lovely and historic and the restaurant has been in business for 25 years. The food didn't quite meet my expectations, nor did the setting. I was part of a large group seated in one of the downstairs private rooms. The décor down there could use a... More

We had a business dinner here, seven people, and had a great time. The Osso Bucco wasn't actually Osso Bucco but whatever it was it was very good anyway. The calamari was a bit on the bland side. OUTSTANDING wine selection. We had a no-gluten person and the waiter knew the menu inside out and was very careful what he... More

Dinner for two, very busy, excellent bar and wine selections, go with an appetite as servings are big; spinish side will serve two easily, veal is tender and flavorful, pasta very good also. Make reservations on weekend

There is a good wine list to start your dinner. The Sea Bass was perfectly prepared and I am sorry I did not take a photo to share. It was placed on red and yellow tomatoes creating a wonderful presentations. Our table shared several deserts and it would be hard to say which was best. our waiter was wonderful and... More

This was the first "good" downtown Long Beach restaurant in a generation. It featured and still does dependable modern italian food. It is fine for conventioneers, large enough to host large meetings and banquets and has ersatz atmosphere--Italian language lessons piped into the bathrooms! Should you want cutting edge Italian cuisine, you will have to drive a bit further.
