We loved the food we ate there and very sad that they are closed now. Wish we could find out if they are opening somewhere else or cooking in another restaurant

Black olive underwent a couple incarnations. From the original owner to a new owner that wasn't able to keep it going. : ( I was friends with the original owner and met and befriended the second. However, the ownership change lost a lot of clientele and now the place is a Japanese eatery. I hear it's very good.
It is unfortunate The Black Olive had to go. Robert have driven away much of the clients that Tony have eatablished, and so did the one after him with poor quality of food and services. Though I was able to win some of them back, their rate of return was just not rapid enough to save the business. Especially, the... More
My wife and I went to the Black Olive recently, a small Italian-based restaurant in Lomita. It was the third time for us, but each time was under a different owner and the ambiance of the restaurant was different. This most recent experience was wonderful because the service was great. Our waiter was so friendly and that made a huge... More
The food is very good authentic Italian, and the service is pretty good, too. This is a small place but well-known in the local area. It has been open for many years.
Excellent chicken marsala, delicious warm foccacia bread straight out of the oven. Reasonable prices. Pleasant service. Nice atmosphere. This will be our new go-to neighborhood Italian restaurant. Note they do not serve alcohol but that's not a big deal for us. Have drinks before or after dinner somewhere else.
The Black Olive is a very nice high-end Italian restaurant. The place is small but intimate, white table cloths and flowers on the tables. The decor is nicely done. The service is usually very good, they sometimes have new hires that should have more training before they put them to work. The food is very good and they have a... More
Love the freshly made ravioli ....the butternut squash ones are fabulous! Get there early, and take advantage of the sunset special....such a deal!
I went with my family on a Monday evening and would suggest the restaurant to friends/family. A very pleasant atmosphere, great service, and good food.
Intimate dining, close to our house, nice for a date night.
Haven't been here in a while. Heard there was a new owner. The food was very good. A little pricey for the amount served but not too bad. Service was good but we felt a little rushed. My wife loved the rolled eggplant & my scampi was good. Four glasses of wine & dinner came to $65.00 excluding tip. We... More
