Good food, poor service. While waiting for a table we decided to have drinks at the bar. After trying to get bar service for 25 mins with no luck, our table was ready. Table service was a little better. Fish tacos were very good and...filling. Too bad they didn't want to make money on selling us drinks. But the host and cashier had it easy sitting doing nothing.More

Classy place with beautiful views overlooking the Kern River. Our group sat on the open sunny patio. It was lovely although a bit warm as patrons are in direct sunlight as the sun sets low in the east. Best to go after the sun dips...behind the mountains (after 7:25pm in June/July, at least). In cooler weather this patio would be heavenly! Good food & service & awesome vibe!More

What are the odds of meeting and fishing with some wonderful kids on the river? After sharing tackle we found out that their family took over Ewing's. We have been there off and on over the years, but promised them that we would go by...for lunch during our stay. Clean and updated, wonderful views, felt like family. I had the Ahi tuna and my husband had the fish tacos. Hubby's bloody Mary was a meal in itself! I would however have the Ahi as an appetizer over a meal. The staff was very friendly but still learning.. Please give this place a try! Fried mushrooms are awesome! Hubby loved the tacos. =)More

This is an excellent place to eat or drink and enjoy fantastic views. The food prices are very reasonible and the staff are small town friendly towards out of town customers. It was a cozy place that served up burgers, steaks, salads, and a lot...of fried appeitizers. When we went around 6 pm there was a 45 min wait but the view was worth the wait.More

We were told by our residence that this was good but we were taken aback by the quality, and personal service after some truly disappointing meals in Santa Barbara. We had an early supper so the restaurant was not crowded and I checked the beers...an to my delight they had my favourite Blue Moon. Our view of the mountains was inspiring and their unglazed open area is ideal for that scenic snaps. What I also liked was that the chowder was included as a side order so in effect free for those with smaller appetites like my ageing self with a diminishing quantity attitude and a focus on taste. The filet was one of the best I have had in a long while and so was my wife’s filet ; truly we also heard the couple on the neighboring table praising the same choice so Ewings must have a very good supplier! The beans were tasty and mashed potatoes are always a delight in centra; California! No desert as we were ‘complet’ but another Blue Moon by the Barman gave us time to relax a little and chat to the owner who was genuinely interested in our comments. The owners have a small personal note on the table explaining why this is their vocation and I am jealous of the residents for their good luck in having this eating place. You may think such a mass of words is a little over the top but have a look at the image.More

Best deck on the river and good food. Dog friendly and our server was both personable and professional. Nice ambiance.

Best Thanksgiving dinner we've ever had at a restaurant and better than many home cooked holiday meals. Turkey was extremely moist and the mashed/sweet potatoes were the best not to mention the rest of the sides which were delicious. Although pumpkin pie is traditional the...cheesecake can't be beat. And you couldn't get a more beautiful setting for a Thanksgiving Day celebration.More

Completely destroyed my romantic dinner reservations by not having tables reserved. Saving grace was their excellent culinary staff.
