Three years have past since we last dined at Cafe Aroma and this experience did not quite live up to our previous visits. Our service was fine but the food was just average and not like we remembered. We expected just a bit more for the price.

We went at lunch on a Friday so not busy. Staff was considerate, friendly and attentive. Pleasant atmosphere. Had the very good garlic bisque followed by caprese sandwich and the grill and chill. Meaty amount of mozzarella and very fresh basil. G&C was delicious. Looking forward to going back for dinner with live music!

We had dinner on January 4th of this year. The restaurant was quite busy and the staff were very friendly. The service was good and the wait person was attentive. The meal preparation was excellent. We had a salad as an appetizer and enjoyed two excellent entrees. They provided bread with a great garlic and olive oil dip. The Chef... More

Just a bit outside of the center of town is this wonderful place that removes the chill of winter outside and gives you warmth that you can take with you. Our first time here won't be our last. It was the highlight of our day trip after enjoying some snowplay. The food was quite good but, the service was even... More

We've been coming to Cafe Aroma for 3 1/2 years. Until tonight, it was our #1 favorite restaurant in Idyllwild. We always make a reservation. Two weeks ago, we had a FABulous dining experience Monday night with Cheney. That is what we'd come to expect from many brunches, lunches, and dinners at Aroma. Tonight, Monday, January 2nd, we had a... More

Great menu, great service, and great atmosphere. Best restaurant we found in the Idyllwood area. Enjoyed it a lot, and they were super with our baby.

First time in Idyllwild for several days over Thanksgiving, we had dinner at Cafe Aroma the evening of our arrival. The atmosphere (whether inside or out) was very pleasant and the menu had something for everyone. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This is an upscale restaurant. Good food, interesting menu, and a special menu for vegans and folks requiring or choosing gluten free selections. Our pasta entrees were excellent. Our service was excellent. Live music played the evening we were there.

You get many choices at Cafe Aroma and the food is good but not gourmet by any means. I got a seafood ravioli dinner that was a bit tough. I like to cut my ravioli with a fork, not a knife.

The ambiance at Cafe Aroma is very relaxing. On weekends, they have music out on the patio. The food is good. The staff are helpful. We don't eat here often, some of the patrons are a bit snobby.

Description
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!
