With a heading like that, why not 5 stars? Just the noise. We sat upstairs and as we passed through the noisy downstairs, I was happy we were up there. Until it filled with a couple of very loud tables. When we left I noticed it was quieter downstairs and in particular, along the counter next to the entrance. That... More

Fabulous and very original food from go to woe. Shareable with great guidance from the staff. Good and modestly priced Italian wines. There wasn't a dish that disappointed. Setting is so/so - ask for a table toward the front as the back is a bit gloomy. There is a garden but not on a chill summer's evening. Unreservedly recommended.

Excellent location in amongst the food strip of Lygon Street East Brunswick. Definitely buzzing for early in the week - we sat outside on a lovely warm Melbourne evening (a rare experience) but around the back in the little courtyard rather than on the street. Very pleasant atmosphere. There were three of us and we ordered to share - the... More

A great long standing little gem this one. Have been here on a romantic night, and enjoy taking out of town friends here. Simple easy read menu and good service. Simple decor home style just how you'd imagine it to be going to your Italian friends parents place for dinner.

I must declare that I grew up in a Sicilian household, so I still have a pretty good handle of this cuisine. As per the title, the menu looks unreal. I was so excited. Started with the Egg plant starter which for me was the dish of the night. It was fantastic! School prawns were not bad, octopus was somewhat... More

We had a magnificent time at Bar Idea. The service was professional but friendly. A couple of times I asked them to surprise us with cocktails and red wine selections and after taking some limited guidance they delivered brilliantly. We had the $75 tasting menus and we were warned with a "are you really hungry?". The serves were fantastic, large... More

We had a group dinner last week in the private dining room. The room was cute and private-like being in a living room in someones home! Food was fantastic and service was great. Highly recommend for work dinner or family catch up.

This Sicilian themed restaurant makes a reasonable attempt at reproducing the homely flavours of Sicily. Some dishes are very good indeed, for example the caponata [capunata], the barramundi fillets and the the slow-cooked lamb shoulder. However my gnocchetti were a disappointment because although the pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce with eggplant was bland and under-seasoned. The desserts were excellent.The... More

Dinning the traditional Sicilian way with shared plates. The decor between quirky and homely. The place was packed and noisy, this added to the experience. The staff attentive friendly and helpful. The food was the highlight, the flavours the textures, the best home made pasta. I visited with a family group of five adults and two small children. We tried... More

Wonderful quirky restaurant with excellent food. Noisy and cramped, but who cares if you get a spread like this. The other night we had for entree the barbecued Sardines (exquisite), Aroncini (yum) and prawns. Don't know what to make of the prawns, extremely salty with touch of chilli, but tasted like whitebait! Main was the slow cooked lamb, delightful! Washed... More
