Yakitori restaurant. Small bits of everything, cooked over a grill, and brought in courses to the table. Also specialties such as Takoyaki, Fried Soft shelled Crab, Abalone Sashimi, various appetizers, sides, and desserts such as Black Sesame Ice cream. (Which was delicious!!) Waitstaff are fantastic, friendly, outgoing and make the night very fun. Come expecting to have a great time.... More

I have tried quite a few Yakitori and Izakaya style restaurants in LA and this place is the most consistent flavor-wise. Torihei has not been as flavorful but is not a bad choice either in my opinion. Was not too happy with Torimatsu but all restaurants deserve a second or even third chance (if you are a local). Shinshengumi Yakitori... More

"Yakitori" means skewered food. A friend invited me to eat here. Verdict? Awesome charcoal grilled meats! We ordered chicken meatballs, intestine (d best!) pork belly, cherry tomatoes and bacon wrapped quail eggs. Price seems to be expensive considering the small serving size..but in the end, after tasting their mixed mushroom salad (so tasty and different)-- it was worth every penny.

Whenever I am in Torrance, I stop at Shin Sen Gumi for Yakitori. It is loud, energetic and crowded, very casual and fun. The Yakitori is delicous and reminds you of Japan. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but good value for the dollar. I keep coming back.

I was brought here by business associates during a work trip in the area. We were seating at a bar alongside the cooking area and one of my associates ordered for our group. We were brought a series of delicious, fresh-cooked menu items, all unique and very tasty. It is definitely a noisy atmosphere as the staff has a lot... More

The whole staff greats with a loud and appreciative shout when you walk in the door, and you get a similar volume of Kampai with your first sip of Sapporo (or whatever you're drinking). For such a small place, the menu is large, with a wide assortment of sashimi (yellowtail was exceptional) and cooked foods. We had beef tongue sliced... More

came highly recommended by our friends and was a hit with the whole family. The skewered meats were excellent. Loved the chili paste on the side to spice up all the meats and to flavor the complimentary cabbage salad for all to share. the service was awesome and authentic. the vibe was perfect. i can't wait to go back.

It's bold to call anything the "best", but Shin Sen Gumi's Yakitori is nothing short of an amazing restaurant. Often there is an hour-long line outside (and no reservations), but it is well worth the wait as it's many regulars will tell you. The food is grilled by a master over a small charcoal grill fanned by a traditional Japanese... More

One of my favorite when I take any Japanese friend. It's just like Japan. They always give me energy with loud "Irashaimase"(Welcome).Food is nothing less than Japan and I just feel like I am in Japan.I don't know if this place is good for regular american people but for real Japanese lover I highly recomend this restaurant.

Very good yakitori and more general izakaya fare, rivals many I went to in Japan for a decade. We had a 6 hour layover at LAX and got a $36 cab from the airport here on the recommendation of a friend who lives near. If you want good food at a reasonable price with a lively atmosphere then stop here.
