The restaurant has been around for many many years .The former owners retired and sold to younger people The atmosphere is very rustic and old It is quite out of the way about 8 miles south of hiway 8 Theer are better places that are much closer to El Centro

This 70-yr old + restaurant is where the locals go. Its hard to find but worth the effort. You'll always meet someone you know, if you're from around here. If not - just ask anyone eating for some local info. Great Mexican food, friendly staff. Some families have been coming here for 3 generations, because the food & ambiance are... More

perhaps the oldest restaurant in the Imperial Valley, Camacho's place has had to weather the challenge of dozens of younger competitors, in all cuisines All us old timers hope it will survive; their (non-refined) beans continue to be the Gold Standard

We were recently driving from San Diego to Phoenix and were passing through El Centro over the lunch hour. We had eaten at Camacho's Place years ago and remembered it as a fun place with good Mexican food. We detoured off I-8 through the farm fields for about 15 minutes to find the place, with our 40 year old daughter... More

When you visit any community institution like Camacho's Place in El Centro, you can't compare it to the new chain restaurants of today. Very little has changed in the 70 years this place has been open. So when you come looking for great Mexican Food, get ready for great homemade Mexican Food, wonderful service (ok it's slow but the attention... More

This place has a LONG history -- it is located out in the countryside - an old converted house. Has been there for more than 60 years -- and no remodeling ever done. Keep an open mind - it is not modern at all. Pros: Food is considered good Mexican food. One of the few places where authentic fresh nopales... More

Restaurant is old and dirty. Service is slow. Food is OK but not sure how no one hasn't gotten sick eating here. They need to get with the times and accept debit cards.

We had heard that this was a neat and weird place that had tons of history in the area. It used to be a store in the 40's and serviced many farmers and what not. We arrived and it was not busy. The one old haggard lady looked at us but did not say anything. We sat down at a... More
