My family loves Norman's! There is something for every, generous portions for 3 boys, very reasonable prices. My favorite is the Irish Benedict. Kids love the pancakes and breakfast burritos. Always fast, nice service.

I ate there for the first time for breakfast on a recent weekday morning. Food was good quality and good portions for normal prices. They offer standard breakfast dishes. Ambiance is a bit blah and old fashion. Most of the customers were older men over...the age of 60. Food and service were both good.More
Had the occasion to go with friends for breakfast but at a later hour.. we arrived around 11:30 and it was fairly busy. The menu had pretty much what your heart desires. It was busy the whole time I was there but service was great...and the meal arrived hot in a timely manner. When we left there was a wait but moved thru swiftly.. quite surprised and will return.. if you haven’t been in years like me give it a try.. on of our party ordered a French dip which looked like it was to die for!!More
Old-fashioned Americana, with a menu to match. Open 7 days until 8:00 pm. Other than fast food, Norman's Grill is the least expensive in town.
I have eaten here a couple of times and it is usually a decent meal. This last time I had breakfast and the service was just so-so. The eggs were over done and I had to send the waffle back because it was cold. Maybe...it was that particular cook that day, I don't know. Remember any business can have a bad day. I'll probably give the place one more chance.More
There is usually a wait it was not too long. The food was very good the portions were large and everyone enjoyed the meal and many of my family have repeatedly visit this restaurant . Everyone knows about Norman's and many of our friends visit...Norman's . You can eat inside or outside. The service is very good in fact we knew one of the people making the food.More
We chose Norman’s because it was close to our hotel. Even though it was near closing time we were cheerfully and quickly served. Chili, sandwich, fries and a strawberry shake were among our delicious choices. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. The music...playing included some of our favorite oldies from the 60’s and 70’s, and vintage vinyl records decorated the walls. We plan to return sometime to try the breakfast menu.More
I had breakfast here with my cousins and it was pretty good. Their eggs are yummy and the tomatoes were red and ripe. The hash browns looked good and the pancakes looked huge. The server was kind and patient as we had kids with us.
My husband and I have been going to Norman’s for over a year now. I have checked in on Yelp every time and actually hold the “Duchess “ title. Never a bad meal here and plenty of food. They make a cheese sandwich with 3...slices of bread. I always have to remember to ask the waitress to cut it down to 2 because I just can’t finish it. Their salads are fresh and they put toppings on like beets and kernel corn that is yummy.😋 I love the oldies but goodies they play for music. 👍More
Some friends and I had breakfast here today and we were pretty disappointed. The staff moves very slowly and it took a while for food to come out. The food is mediocre at best. Their chicken parmesan sandwich, which was recommended by the waitress, was...greasy and gross. The waffle was pretty soggy and the rest of the food was just okay. I prefer one of the many other breakfast spots in Castro Valley or Hayward.More
This place started out as a Red Barn hamburger franchise, then became a Chinese run German Hofbrau. I was planning to eat at the Hofbrau, but saw the name was changed, but the parking lot was full. Had a slightly different meat and potatoes menu....se we had a chicken sandwich and Nachos deluxe. Both were good.More
Well-located on East Castro Valley Blvd with extensive parking, this local favorite is a little blast from the past. Old fashioned booths and tables, vinyl records on the walls, music from the 50's 60's and 70's welcomes the visitor. The menu is very extensive and...VERY reasonable, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service is usually brisk with coffee and drinks and the wait time for the meal is brief. Give them a try!More
Don't expect to be impressed and you won't be disappointed. It's a cute place, decent breakfast at a decent price. It's what I love about Castro Valley... there's still a few places that aren't corporate chains. Cheaper and not, as crowded as, Dougs Place. Norman's...is still my top choice for an old fashioned breakfast in Castro Valley.More
I have been to Norman's many times since it opened some years ago. Normally the service is pretty quick and efficient; this occasion was an exception. My take-out order was simple, an omelette. After I sat for 15 minutes or so one of the cooks...emerged from the kitchen and conferred with the waitress. Someone had missed the boat and my order had not been placed. I was also told they were out of one of the ingredients I had asked for. When the order did come out, the waitress forgot to include plastic cutlery and napkins in the bag. Just an off day.More
My husband loves a full breakfast on the weekend and sometimes I just don't want to do it. Well, he found just the spot in our home town. Norman's serves breakfast like you'd make it! The service is great. The restaurant is a bit small...and the place has gotten pretty popular, so there's always a wait on weekends. He loves the linguisa and eggs with potatoes and I like the buttermilk pancakes served with the crispy bacon. The omelettes are delicious too. They also serve lunch and dinner. The only complaint, is the portions are way too big!!More
