We happened upon Grasing's during an afternoon gallery trip, talked with the staff and then made reservations for dinner that night. (I would say reservations are a must; the place was very busy in the evening.) I had the Maple Leaf duck in a port wine reduction accompanied by vegetables etc. The duck included both the dark meat and a... More

We had a fantastic dinner and the waiter was very attentive. The menu is quite large, and varied. The only problem was the restrooms they lead to an alley which was pretty dark.

Four of us had first class service and superior food. Nice "single malt scotch" menu, great martini. Maybe the best veal chop I can remember, perfectly cooked. Two people had the filets; and commented they we better than high end steak houses. The warm cabbage salad was perfect. We went there for fish but were more than happy with the... More

This place is expensive by our standards, but the food was delicious. I had the duck and my husband had some type of fish. They are a dog-friendly restaurant, as are many places in Carmel. They have an outdoor seating area with heat lamps. I called and asked if we could bring our dog and sit outside. The person who... More

Grasing's is a beautiful restaurant in downtown Carmel which attracts both locals and tourists. Think of it as steak house serving expensive cuts of meat in a modern atmosphere. But we found the menu to be filled with tired standards of 21st century American cuisine. Lobster mac and cheese, Caesar salad, lots of steak and seafood options. Everything is well-prepared... I wish we were able to rate the food, but were there for a quick tea and coffee on the run. They accommodated us perfectly, seemed to be an amazing little place that would definitely warrant a reservation. Warm little cottage setting with a great selection at the bar. Going to have to come back to this place.

The restaurant is located got a block off the main street is Carmel. We have eaten here before but always come back for the great food and service. The menu has a good variety with some vegetarian dishes and a very extensive wine list. I ordered the short ribs (evening special) and my wife ordered the chicken. Both were delicious,... More

We had high hopes for this restaurant but were very dissatisfied with the food. It's one of the most expensive places in Carmel and so not worth the money. We wanted to try a couple of the appetizers but had some questions (like where were they getting heirloom tomatoes and artichokes in December) before we ordered. Our waiter, who was... More

We've eaten at Grasing's before and have generally been pleased. But our most recent experience was mixed. First of all, the Maitre d and the sommelier had attitudes. Maybe because we brought a couple of wonderful wines with us rather than ordering from their wine list. Not sure, but we could have done without the annoying pretentiousness. On the other... More

Description
As a restaurant with an impressive contemporary menu, Grasing’s offers the finest coastal cuisine paired with a ‘Wine Spectator’ awarding winning wine list featuring the best California wines. For a true Carmel experience, enjoy dinner on the pet-friendly patio.

In March of 1998 Kurt opened the door to his namesake restaurant: Grasing’s. In an impressive first year it received enthusiastic reviews and was voted Best New Restaurant and Best Chef by the readers of Adventures in Dining Magazine. Grasings has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best of the Year issue in 2004, and was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Business of the Year award that same year. Carmel Magazine proclaimed Grasing’s the Critic’s Choice. Grasing’s was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Restaurant of the Year as well as a Celebrated Chef of the Year Award from the American Culinary Federation – Monterey Chapter, in 2007. In 2013 Grasing’s was voted Best Restaurant in Carmel by the readers of the Monterey County Weekly. Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll named Grasing’s the Best Restaurant for a Steak in 2014 and 2015. Open Table diners conferred a 2015 Diner’s Choice Award on Grasing’s and Trip Advisor has given Grasing’s a Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and 2016. 2016 also brought Grasing’s a win for the Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion in 2016 from the Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll.

In 2010, Kurt revamped Grasing’s by constructing a new bar and lounge along with completing a restaurant make-over. The warm hues and contemporary decor in the restaurant and bar gives Grasing’s an even more inviting atmosphere, giving it a new look with the same great food and first-rate service to which guests are accustomed.
