We dined here the end of January and the restaurant was under renovation. Tables screened off by plastic sheeting! We sat with our backs to it and after some wine, did not notice it! We were there to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. Our dinner selections were duck and steak - perfectly prepared. Dessert was served with a candle -... More

The newly renovated California Market at Pacific's Edge in the Highlands Inn combines the two restaurants into one. You can now sit in the Pacific's Edge dining room for lunch or dinner. The addition of the chef from the San Francisco Ritz now ensures that the food is at least very good, if not occasionally excellent. The emphasis on the... More

A very good friend suggested that we try this restaurant which had just re-opened. It's located in the Highlands Inn, a few miles south of Carmel, on the side of mountain above the Pacific Ocean. The view is stunning, whether you are there for lunch or a sunset. Not only looking out over the water, which this time of year... More

We dined here during our stay and had a lovely dinner. Everything was fresh and delicious and Sonya and Carlson took excellent care of us. This was a very special dinner and Pacific's Edge menu selections made it even better.

The nearly overwhelming views of the Pacific overcome the shortcomings of a 3rd world bar atmosphere / decor and the higher than average, even for Carmel, pricing on items across the board. Disappointing that the old "California Market" is now gone away. But why change the famous name "Pacific Edge"? Confusing.....

We had a sunset dinner at Pacific Edge and are very disappointed in the renovation. We were seated with a gorgeous view right underneath the "rowdy" bar. The cocktail shakers and banging of utensils, etc., totally undermined the beauty. The staff were gracious to re-seat us to a quieter section for do NOT have dinner there unless you request the... First and foremost is the panoramic view of the Pacific ocean. Its about 180 degrees of breathtaking. Unlike some restaurants with great views and lousy everything else, the food here is very good. I have read some reviews that pan this restaurant but when my wife and I visited in January 2017 we had excellent service and delicious food. I... More

We were guests at the hotel and chose to take advantage of the breathtaking view overlooking the Pacific coast. We went first to breakfast and had several small sides that were exceptional. Breakfast entrees were surprisingly bland. Not totally discouraged, we went back for dinner and had the same experience. We had two appetizers which were out-of-this-world fantastic. The dinner... Pacific's Edge is really becoming an interesting restaurant, with new leadership and freshened menus and decor. It's always had beautiful views and a great location. Now, the menu is becoming more creative but also more accessible. Instead of the food being tiny, expensive portions artfully arranged, the food is reasonably sized (but still pricey) and tasty. But the plant-based tasting... More

OK--it was NY Eve-- so I am forgiving the spotty service at the last seating of 9 PM ....they were polite but did not pay close attention to the drinks....and I did not see that they were particularly crowded----but on the other hand, the food was fresh, inventive, well prepared and well thought out, taste wise; Was very happy with...
