Food was nice... just ok really. Lunch salads were tiny for the price, more like a side salad with no options to add anything like chicken or shrimp... lovely location and patio. Could be better.

We enjoyed a nice lunch at Basil and had no problem getting a table on the patio on a Sunday; it was off season which probably helped. The food was tasty. The lamb meatballs were substantial enough for a meal with leftovers. The black ink...More
We had a family dinner at this very well rated restaurant downtown Carmel. The place is cosy. With a reservation you don’t have to wait too long. The place is quite busy over weekends. We had excellent seafood as starters. Oysters were very fresh and...More
We enjoyed lunch here while visiting Carmel. The menu was varied, but our salads were disappointing. My roasted beet salad had 2 cups of greens at most and not much else. The grilled peach salad was better as was the cheese board. Our server wasn't...More
We loved our meal at Basil - the gnocchi without the butter & the vegetable plate were fantastic. Really dinner option for vegans as Carmel is pretty behind the times in the veg-friendly department. The atmosphere could use some improvement for a nicer restaurant (there...More

Great food being served here. Small restaurant (max 24 pp inside and some seatings outside) in a small alleyway just off the street opposite of tiny jewelry shop. Fish, burger, salad and soups. Attentive and hands on service. Recommended
We went with friends to Basil and what a treat. The service was excellent along with the food. This is a certified green restaurant and the Chef Soerk Peters does an excellent job in using local produce.
The food here was amazing. Beef Cheeks, Lamb meatballs, squid ink pasta and the fish, perfect. The Pea Ravioli was incredible, yes Pea Ravioli!. Dining room is small. Be prepared to sit outside, it can be cold, but they have heaters and blankets. The service...More
Basil is a little hard to find but worth the effort. Although pricey, the food is excellent and the service is friendly. Vegetarians will appreciate the specially prepared roasted vegetable plate.
