I was meeting old friends while in CA and wanted someplace we could drink outside and away from others. A daytime visit here was perfect. Great beer, good food. Great place to meet and greet. Overall a really good time here.

Fieldwork's beer is some of the very, very best in the United States. They are the masters of the IPA. There must be a dozen IPAs on tap at all times and each one is at least an 7/10; most are perfect 10's. That said,...the IPA isn't all they can do. They brewed a delicious pale ale with simcoe so it's hoppy, but palatable for those who don't like bitter beers, and brew good stouts and Belgians as well. If IPA is your thing though, Fieldwork is paradise. They consistently have the haziest, hoppiest, juciest most impressive collection of IPAs I think I've ever found in a single brewery. And they allow dogs.More

I've been aware of Fieldwork Brewing for quite some time, especially due to their social media presence and gorgeous can art. I had heard their beer was fantastic to match and was part of the reason for their quick success and expansion. I set it...aside to have plenty of time here, the Berkeley location was the original so I thought it should be the first. With an old friend willing to try it together, I was very excited to come! Right off the bat, Fieldwork did not live up to expectations. Whether that was having mine high in the first place, or that it's just not that amazing will never be known. I do look forward to coming here again or trying their other locations. The brewery is located on the outskirts of Berkeley; parking is street only and we easily found a space. It's an old converted warehouse with high ceilings. It's hard to know what to do if you haven't been here before: you line up for a single order-taker, then pay for everything where you get a number and it's brought to you. For people like me that like to take my time when ordering, I felt rushed with the flight sheets, especially with the abundance of choices. The cashier was patient, and they started pouring as quickly as we wrote stuff down. Seating is at a premium; you'll have to share tables, but even then it's hard to find the requisite seats. One huge positive here is how dog friendly it is! They have water bowls below the human water coolers, and free dog treat bowls on the counters. Dogs were everywhere and well-behaved; I wish we had that policy here. We looked at the food choices and opted to skip trying anything, prices felt high for what read like nothing special. This was okay, as I was only here for the beer and company. We ordered the core flight, and a second flight of 6 other beers; a dozen in total. Each is served in a metal box and is poured for you to take yourself. Crowlers, growlers, and food will be brought to your table when ready. I thoroughly enjoyed trying the beer, reading about each one on the menu, and catching up with my friend. As a rare drinker, I was interested in his opinions of what we had as we went. Out of twelve, I genuinely enjoyed two, with a few others good. None of them stuck out to me as particularly amazing. The beers remained in the shade on a cool day, but none felt served cold enough. It was a sense of blandness. Regardless, I ordered a can of my favorite to take home to share with a friend, it tasted better than I had remembered. Maybe this place has a big difference between packaged and draft beer; I'd love to try more to know for certain. Prices were typical for the area, with stronger or more complex styles costing more. Merchandise was available for purchase and advertised.More

Amazing beers but operation isn’t great. Long lines to get a beer, long waits to get a crowler. Would have spent more time, but was annoyed.

Super Friendly staff and great beer! I happen to be an IPA fan and love all that they do. They can also produce a massively tasty stout and I'm sure everything else I haven't tried is equally as tasty. The tasting room has a great...ambiance and usually there is plenty of parkingMore

Fieldwork has been open since February of 2015 and since then they have expanded taprooms to Napa, San Mateo, Monterey, Sacramento, and San Ramon (opening soon). The Berkeley location is their actual brewery and it is dog friendly both inside and outside. Their beers are...really great and they have a lot of seasonal and experimental beers. They often do a lot of sours like a Cherry Parfait as well as unique beers such as the Mexican Hot Chocolate made with chocolate and spicy peppers. They even age their beers in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels. Every day their beer menu changes so check their website to see what is on their draft list. So to recap, you can BYOD (bring your own dog), BYFD (bring your friend’s dog), and I forgot to add that you can BYOF (bring your own food)!More

Google maps took us to the door, so I entered to quench my thirst. We are hop heads, so IPA'S are our goal. Plenty of tasty choices. Just go there and have a cold one...

Was in the Bay Area for business and wanted to eat somewhere fun. Her here is excellent and if I wasn't driving I would have tried many more. Food was good although I wish they had a slightly wider ranging menu. Service was very friendly...and the bar itself is a very cool, chilled out area. This brewpub actually improved my overall view of the Bay Area, so I think that speaks highly of itMore

Every time we’ve come here the place looks packed but we always find a seat. The beers are good but my favorite are the stouts, the last time we went they were sold out. You can easily spend a few hours here sampling the beers...and enjoying their snacks. The tamales are delicious! The place is dog and little piggy friendly.More

What a gorgeous day to be in Berkeley-70s-sunny and the beer was great. Ten taps available and we chose 6 to try. A Carribean Tropical Sour @5.5 % did not dissappoint-red in color light tropical flavors and refreshing. overall we voted bedt of the bunch...for all to enjoy. Then the Strawberry Sour-refreshing but a little off in flavor.Next the Bright Farmhoyse Ale-6%-dry spritziness with good flavors.Next a Hanah Bier de Garde-8.6% malty Belgian Saison style. Tasty but finish fell off. We had to try one of their 4 IPAs so we picked the Citra and were awzrded with a well rounded citrusy IPA-6%.Last the big dog Lukes Dinner Coffee stout and lets just say from the moment you raise the glass-you think you are about to sip Peete's best. Very heavy coffee and cream notes at 10%. We all agreed-great to try but would be tough to do a whole pint. As I said als had a lager, a Bohemiam and Belgian ale and several IPAs for next trip. Before leaving webdid grab a sip of the Wheaton-cloudy wheat beer-Very refreshing. Two notes-1-Gilman is closed at railroad crossing as you come ofg highway-have to detour south. 2-Ask for price of samplers before you purchase--easy to order and not know-not posted-price depends on beers-sours more-for example our 6 tasters ( they were ample 6 oz pours good to share) came to -$25 -the most I have ever paid for a flite anyway any brewery. For two to share great-pricey if you each order a flite.More

I loved the pale ale especially the marketplace and rancher: refreshing and wholesome. I was not so pleased with the stouts and porter which I found too sweet and lacking in wholesome body. Forget the darker beers and go straight for the ipa. It seems...brewers are focusing on better ipas but have forgotten traditional stouts.More
