Good menu of casual food like burgers and salads. Very noisy which creates some intimacy for two at at table but presents challenges for larger groups.

If you like waiting an hour and a half for a table when you were quoted 15 minutes - this is the place for you! There were TONS of empty tables but it was excuse after excuse as to why we couldn’t be seated. Stay...home. Order pizza or something.More

A horrible experience. What was suppose to be great food experience, fun libations and relaxation prior to a concert; turned into a maddening & frustrating experience. This rude and arrogant general manager, Carlie needs retraining and an crash course of customer service and communication. Oh...and a side order of humility. My wife (who happens to have been a national trainer for one of the fasted growing restaurants of similar stature, for years) and I arrived at Eureka during the off hour. There were at least seven employees milling around the restaurant with four tables filled. Our server slapped down menus, coming back to take our meals and drink orders. I ordered the western burger, fries and a beer on tap. My wife, mac&cheese balls and a margarita. We were not asked if we wanted water. We sat. We sat longer. At this point a young man came in with a resume and sat down at a far table and waited for the GM. We could hear this conversation. It turns out the bartender & GM are one in the same. We had now reached about 10 to 15 minutes. The bartender/GM goes to the far table and begins to interview the young man. Then she takes her second interview; a young woman. NO BEER OR DRINK FOR US! We ask the seater and he says the bartender is unavailable at this time and has an interview!!! Ummmm?? Was the GM so clueless that she does not take care of her tickets first. Finally she is done and goes behind the bar. The server reminds her of our drinks Nothing. Out they come with someone else that came later's drinks...then another. My wife steps up to the bar to speak with her and the communication was elementary. We suddenly get our food, water but no drinks. Rather than apologize for the misstep our server slammed our water and food down. My burger was good (thus the 2 star review rather than 1), The fries were cold...when told, I did get hot fries but still no drinks), the mac & cheese balls had no flavor. We finally get our drinks basically thrown at us. At no point does the GM/bartender walk to the table and say hey, sorry. Nothing. No one acknowledged that an incompetence occured. Our bill was not compensated and our server treated us as if we had made the mistake not the restaurant. Mind you; I am not saying I think our bill should of been zeroed out!! I am saying a good restaurant recognizes their error, the bartender/GM would come out and said, "sorry I messed that up.", comp our drinks OR perhaps offer a dessert to make up for their mistake. When approached by myself this GM was quite rude and arrogant. No, sorry, no "let me attempt to change your opinion of us." NOTHING. Carly was simply put, SMUG! This restaurant is in a great location and has a good vibe inside. We were looking forward to its intriguing drink menu as it had been bragged about via a friend. But when your General manager/bartender has no time management skills, puts interviews before waiting on her customers, doesn't seem to cross train her employees or care about her own or their customer service skills...it is time to get back to basics!!! Greet me, seat me, get me my drinks in a timely fashion, serve hot food and be kind to me. Simple, basic, friendly ... this place is not that presently.More

Late night stop after an amazing show at the Berkeley rep. Staff are friendly and service was quick. No problem sharing an entrée or dessert. Staff happily brought extra plates for sharing. Good drink selection, although I only had a local beer. The cocktail menu...looked fun. Order the bourbon barrel cake for dessert ... yum!More

Visiting Berkeley is usually related in some way to the UC- Berkely campus. It was for me and the family when we visit this Oakland suburb and once the campus visit was complete, it was time to look for a place to eat. We decided...to tur to the internet for recommendations and ended up at Eureka Restaurant in downtown Berkeley. Eureka specializes in American food with a large bar area and a very nice selection of beer and whiskey, plus several specialty drinks. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is interesting- they have built a structure, right next to the street, for outdoor dining. It can often get chilly and they have accommodated this concern by adding heaters. Parking is either on the street or in the adjacent parking garage. I started off my visit to the restaurant with a glass of beer and when it came time to choose a meal, I decided on one of the burgers, since they were recommend online, and I was quite impressed! It would be difficult to improve on the burger, as most everything was just right, from the meat to the toppings, to the bun. They really nailed it, and it matched up oh- so- well with my beer. Eureka has several good appetizers to start off your visit. The truffle fries are a good choice but there are several others, too, like the macaroni and cheese balls, falafel bites, and other options. I found the service quite attentive also- the wait staff was right back at our table right when we needed them. My glass wasn’t empty for long. Eureka Restaurant has much going for it in terms of atmosphere. It’s great for sports viewing and it’s one of those places that is elegant, yet still casual enough for an informal gathering with friends and family. It’s a great stopover for a memorable meal in this California college town.More

Our family of 5 loved this place. Great beer and food. Would love to go again. Lots of menu options and touch less ordering.

Food was decent. Two homeless men starting harassing me and my boyfriend. One of them started fighting with another customer. Wait staff came out but then decided not to ask them to leave. Was called a faggot after spending $120. I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Beers and whisky abounds. I didn't see any wine but that might be in hiding. This is a grain spirit place. Deep fried foods that are super tasty. Nice arrangement for its over crowded times.

A very good, solid restaurant overall in the hard-to-figure-out Berkeley scene. They have a decent happy hour and a very worthwhile Tuesday half-off wine night.

Had a great meal here. Service was friendly and efficient. Appreciate that happy hour menu is served alongside the regular menu during happy hour. Burger was large with excellent meat and for a v small charge, can choose a side other than fries. Brussels sprouts...were delicious and slightly sweet... not fried and oily as so many are now. Huge choice of beer. Great choice for a pre-theater dinner at a reasonable price.More

The food was fine but the lavender tea alone would bring me back again. Casual atmosphere, average service, starter menu was good, burgers were disappointing.

Eureka! is one of my favorite spots in Berkeley. There are several TVs in the location, always playing sports games and bringing in a lively crowd. The locally crafted beers are delicious, with a very wide variety offered. I love that their business stresses buying...locally! Ethically and morally on point. The food itself is also great. The portions are a little smaller than expected, but filling! The brussel sprouts are AMAZING, so much flavor! You can substitute any burger with a turkey burger as well, great variety! The chicken tacos are also great. The staff is always accommodating and welcoming as well. The happy hour is not to miss!!! They offer amazing deals Monday-Friday and discounts on food. Beware of no reservations and potentially long wait times, but it is worth it!More

They don't--however we enjoy sitting at the bar so it's not an issue for us (going out as a couple).
