I've been going there since they were at the old place. This place is at a better location and a lot bigger. Great food with service to match. Nice people there.

When a restaurant is packed at 8pm on a Sunday night, that's a great sign. Great China was delicious, with a compact but interesting menu and full bar. Entree sizes were generous...we couldn't finish everything. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and the Gua Ta Tofu....We asked for more spicy, but it was still fairly mild. Lots of flavor, though. Server was pretty good. Would definitely return.More

I'm usually the kind of person who prefers to eat Chinese food in China Town or at some hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but I came here with some colleagues for dinner and we were so impressed. First of all, they have a wine selection that can stand...up to Michelin-Star Restaurants! They have everything under the sun! I am a lover of Meursault, and they have a huge selection. We enjoyed a bottle of Gevrey Chambertin and had a family style meal with the roasted duck, duck bone soup, calamari, noodles, green beans and a pork dish. Everything was fantastic! Ambiance is nice, service is great and and prices aren't too bad either. Must check this place out!More

Is there such a thing as non-greasy, none salty, tasty and probably the most health Chines cuisine you can find? Well, in Berkeley, this is it. Nice digs too - modern/spare. Mid-priced, but good portions.

So glad we found this incredible Chinese restaurant. All the food choices are authentic and delicious. We go for the lunch special but it is only offered during the week and not on any holiday that falls on a week day. The shrimp and walnut...is my favorite with truly magnificent flavors and reasonable portion size. The veggie and double-skin dishes are great, too. We drive from Petaluma once a month for this super wonderful food. Enjoy! The best.More

A long wait for this popular Chinese restaurant in downtown Berkeley. The food is delicious and well presented. We ordered their famous Peking Duck which was presented correctly with skin and meat carved separately, pork dumplings which were so clean tasting, seafood fried rice and...the best tasting wonton soup I’ve tasted in a long time which actual generous portions of meat inside the cute dumplings bathed in a genuine beef broth not from can or bouillon cube. A dinner worth waiting an hour for. Wait time shorter if you reserve ahead which I learned afterwards.More

Have had two meals here and telling friends how excellent the food is. I didn't realize till someone recently mentioned they do takeout here. Not a lot of parking choices, but that's Downtown Berkeley.

Did takeout with a number of difference dishes. Generally, the portions are large, even their 2-3 person hot and sour soup. The spicy dishes are not all that spicy, but definitely in the range of "American" Chinese. If you do order takeout, don't bother ordering...extra rice (and, if you, count them!) as each meal comes with either a noodle or rice base within the portion. Besides, the rice is not that good.More

Great China reopened at 2190 Bancroft Way on the corner of Oxford in Berkeley two years after a fire destroyed their Kittredge St. location in 2012. It is only a block away from the original restaurant and has a more contemporary feeling without the crowded...tables or any stairs that the original building had. The menu is similar to the original with many of the popular items still available. We often order the Double Skin and Peking Duck..... both are recommended. Other selections that we have tried are very good to excellent. Service is usually very good and attentive. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. It is a James Beard Outstanding Wine Program Nominee and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. This restaurant is one of our favorites in the East Bay... we sometimes travel from the South Bay just to eat at this restaurant.More
