Located in the Solano section of Berkeley this establishment offers a solid option for Chinese food. My recommendation is to get the hot and sour soup which was divine. The noodle dishes offer many choices and you can't go wrong. Our waiter suggested the crispy scallops which were very good. If you like traditional dishes stick with Kung Pao or... More

Besides great food, the bar drinks are great also. I had two margaritas this time. Service is always fast and friendly. Parking can be tight. Kirin's can be crowded around dinner. It s really popular with the locals. I think you will keep returning to Kirin's like I do once you visit.

Step into Kirin and the atmosphere is immediately calming- quiet music is playing, the lighting is not overly bright. High ceilings, tile floors and lots of Asian art, and what looks to be a very nice bar. Despite an open kitchen the noise level is low. The menu is extensive and includes many less common dishes not found among the... More

My hubby and I go to Kirin about once a week, and are always happy with the food there. For the lunch special, you get your choice of a large variety of dishes (the really spicy ones are marked with peppers) rice, salad and soup, and the soup is always delicious! Dinner menu is huger and has lots of seafood!... More

What's not to love, unless you're on an anti-carb kick. The noodles -- variously prepared by an aware and fast-working mostly-Mexican kitchen staff (!!) -- are just great. Granted, this is not rocket science, but the results are fantastic, ranging from peanut sauce (spicy, lively, fun, but a bit sloppy to eat), to seafood mixtures, to siaolungbao (the classic dim... I had a vegetarian Buddha Bowl that came with tofu and vegetables. The vegetables, carrots, bok choy and cauliflower were over-cooked and mushy. The fried soft tofu was nice. Everything was floating in an unappetizing, brown, and salty sauce with noodles. The rice was tasteless and certainly not fragment Jasmine rice. The small bowl of salad was dripping in dressing.... I have been a regular to Kirin since I moved to the area in 2000. The quality of the food is unparalleled and the fresh noodles they make on site as well at the dough for their own pot sticker - which I have never liked anywhere else, but here. Over the year I have brought many friends and held... More

Probably the best, but most expensive, Chinese restaurant in the East Bay. Even ordering tea costs more.

Kirin is located on Solano Avenue which makes it fun to browse the shops on the way to or from the restaurant. This was my tenth visit to Kirin but my first time to sit at the bar and drink mojitos. The mojitos were delicious, if a tad sweet. The family favorites for dinner are the eggplant, the green beans,... More
