Beautiful setting, excellent service though they were clearly short-staffed. Food was phenomenal! We had trout and duck, followed by chocolate fondant and pineapple upside down cake. Would definitely return!

Nice outside patio with a good view of the building’s architecture. Socially distant tables. Quality food - I had duck ala orange. The special was a beef stew like beef Bourguignon that two at my table ordered. Service is good. A special place for dinner.

Everything about Julia's is lovely; the food is delicious and interestingly prepared, the service low-key but very attentive and personal, the decor soothing and pleasant. I arrived at the last minute and they were able to fit me in despite seeming to have a full...house. What a nice evening!More

We had a lovely evening here in an historic environment. The classic old California design is everywhere and one should wander around the City Club while here. It's truly special and just live Hearst Castle. The food was quite good, classic French. Service seemed as...though done by students, enthusiastic but not professional.More

My friend and I had tickets to ‘Copenhagen’ so we wanted to have dinner at Julia’s beforehand. The dining room is elegant as is the rest of the old building. The place has a soul. Even though the restaurant was quite busy the noice level...did not become irritating. We shared a salad and I had a plant based vegan dish with cauliflower and a nice sauce. We finished with a pear tart for dessert. It was delicious. This was not another dinner out but a dining experience. How nice it was to finish dinner and walk downstairs to see the play. I highly recommend Julia’ Restaurant. It is housed in a beautiful Julia Morgan building.More

We enjoyed yet another wonderful meal here. The menu was interesting and offered great choices. Most of us chose the price fixe meal, which was superb, from the excellent appetizers to the beautiful dessert.. The corn soup was especially tasty. The service was charming and...attentive, and the presentation was as nice as the flavors! :. This is a place for a very happy experience, start to finish.More

We stayed overnight at the Berkeley City Club and our dinner experience at “Julia’s Restaurant” was nothing short of impressive. Altho’ menu choices in each category were limited, each of the dishes we had were perfectly prepared and the quality was superb. The dining room’s...ambiance and decor are beautiful and the service was excellent. It was truly a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end!More

This is a warm and inviting place in which to enjoy a beautiful meal. After all, how often do you get to eat in the dining room designed by William Randolph Hearst’s architect and listed on the National Historic Register? IMHO this restaurant would be...a great place to “pop the question“, celebrate an anniversary...or just have a wonderful family experience. (My only complaint- and it’s minor- is that my chair at our table, while old, lovely and appropriate for the setting, was very hard on my back.) Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. The bread they served with our meal was truly wonderful — clearly freshly – baked. The pork I had was cooked perfectly and served with the most delicious sweet/tart baked apricots. The combination was simply divine! The desserts ordered at our table were also beautiful, interesting and delicious. :. This place is a real gem!More

The new French chef is feeling his oats and coming into his own at Julia's. The new menu has great possibilities. The soups and duck dishes and pastas are all lovely; sometimes the fish is overcooked. The wine list needs a bit of sprucing up...but is good. The service is friendly and attentive. The dining room is gorgeous and fairly quiet. We will keep abreast of developments.More

This historical building, designed by architect Julia Morgan is a treat in itself. We were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the food was. We had duck breast, sea bass, a beet salad and mushroom soup.. Portions were generous and we even had leftovers. Service was...impeccable. Attentive without feeling smothered. Look forward to returning.More
