Due to the pandemic, it's been over 16 months since we last celebrated a friend's birthday with a dine-in meal at Rivoli. Best part of the meal was our very outstanding (and according to the wives, very cute server, James, who accommodated with aplomb each...one of our "off-the-menu" requests (challenges). Admittedly, we seniors were so giddy (and loud) about seeing each other after months of having been shut-in and then getting to celebrate a birthday in person at one of our favorite restaurants. We easily could have been viewed as the customers from h*ll because we kept requesting menu substitutions.) First, the preprandial request for Red Sangria which was not on the menu (the others ordered Kir, Campari, Ducasse, and pinot noir). James talked to the bartender about our request and came back with a refreshing glass of Sangria. The first of many delights. The only con of the evening was the appetizer order of Padron peppers. Admittedly, the menu listed the peppers as "small bites" for $4 -- and what we got were exactly 4 tiny peppers between 1/2" to 3/4-inch long (short). The four of us split two Caesar salads. For our main dish, one person ordered the poblano chile stuffed with corn, squash, goat cheese and tomatillo and another ordered the roast chicken. Two of us who are seafood lovers couldn't imagine the pairing of grilled ahi with a robust spaghetti puttanesca. We're also not fans of risotto (which was topped with prawns). James came to the rescue again when we asked if the kitchen could substitute prawns instead of the grilled ahi with spaghetti puttanesca. A few minutes later, James gave us the thumbs up. Again, more shrieks of pleasure and happy delight with the prawn spaghetti puttanesca! For dessert, we asked James if we could have an affoggato (vanilla ice cream drowned in hot espresso) since it was not on the menu. Easily done per James. One couple split a warm summer fruit cobbler, along with coffee and cappuccino. Total bill including tax came to $266.82. Wonderful meal! Wonderful service! A huge shout-out to James!More

We've come here for years and our meal was perfection. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The ambiance was delightful. The service was impeccable. It felt like a very high end restaurant without any attitude. We're grateful they have survived and continue to offer...this dining experience. Lucky us.More

My disappointment would have been a little less so had the prices been lower, and we had not loved their food in the past. Due to Covid, dining in is not possible, so we did carry-out. We did that earlier this year during the isolation,...and we enjoyed our food then. But tonight, the thrill is gone. I’ll comment only on the dishes I had, not my spouse’s. The mushroom and fennel salad app wasn’t at all what I expected. First, the menu didn’t describe it as a salad, so I thought I was getting a dish with cooked mushrooms. My bad for assuming and not verifying. The raw mushrooms didn’t have a distinctive flavor, so I couldn’t understand why they were even there. Second, it was on a bed of parsley, which seemed to be a main ingredient but was not even mentioned on the menu. I will say though that the ingredients were very fresh and worked pretty well together. The Lamb Tagine was flavorful, but there weren’t many pieces of squash and the lamb meat was in such minuscule bits that I could barely find them. This was what really disappointed, since I was looking forward to sinking my teeth into some juicy chunks of lamb. I have to wonder if they forgot to add them in. The chocolate budino, which is traditionally a custard or pudding, was more like a soft cake. I found that odd. They need to do a better job of explaining their dishes on their website. Overall the $95 cost before tip was not justified when we can get more satisfying meals elsewhere for less.More

this is ridiculous. The restaurant had a terrible smell from the kitchen (or the bathroom I don't know). The waitress and waiter's attitudes were just straight up rude and monotone. The food was not only EXTREMELY overpriced but EXTREMELY bad. Like we were shocked at...how ridiculously poor the food quality was. We left in full shock and confusion. Don't go unless you ONLY want to get an unworthy and disappointing fake "high-end" restaurant experience both upsetting your stomach and your mood. ps. our seat was also uncomfortable.More

My Mother-in-law made reservation two months in advance for her birthday. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and the waiter really didn't seem to care. We spoke to the manager and she assured us our table would be ready shortly. 25 minutes later, our...table was ready. The food was excellent, the service service good and the prices were high end. I expect more from a place with incredible reviews.More

We started with portobello fritters that comes with an outstanding aioli - so ask for extra sauce. We split everything and it was very filling. We shared the Caesar salad -excellent with amazing croutons. Then we had day- boat scallops on risotto very good. The...bread is wonderful and crusty. It comes with creamy butter and salt but you can ask for olive oil that’s extraordinary. We had hot fudge sundae for dessert. Need I say more? Pure decadence!More

We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past year. It is consistently excellent. The menu changes regularly. Soups are always terrific. Seafood, steaks, and pastas are all excellent. I can particularly recommend the scallops and sea bass. The wine list is extensive....Waiters are helpful and friendly.More
