One of the things we like about Zachary's is that they have a vegan pizza and you can get chicago style or thin crust (we have been to the one in Pleasant Hill). On a recent road trip up to the bay area, we left...the freeway to go there to get a pizza to go. Easy enough to find in berkeley w/ some pay street parking and we were ready.
At the time, they were only doing take-out which is what we wanted. There was only a couple of people waiting in there and plenty of people slinging pizzas behind the counter. We ordered our pizza - service was fine and said it would be ready in about 20 minutes.
We waited there and it was very good to see that they had so much business - people kept coming in to pick up their orders that they had phoned in (why didn't we think of this - right?). Anyway after about 1/2 hour our pizza was ready - to the car and back to our room smelling the pizza the whole way - yumm.
When we ate the pizza we were kinda disappointed in what we got. It wasn't bad - just not anything special. We got a thin vegan crust (whole wheat) that seemed like maybe it was too thick or ?? The amount of toppings was subpar as well.
Maybe just an off day or something - would probably try again not sure.More
There is always Zachs half baked in our freezer and we live at least an hour from the nearest Zachs. My son carries it on the plane back to his home in. NYC. My husband times his trips from the Bay Area to stop at...either Rockridge, Pleasant Hill or Danville to pick up at least 2 Mushroom and Spinach deep dish large pizzas . Last week he sat in the car beside the Rockridge with a paper plate and started eating it before arriving home where he made just enough of a dent to have some left for breakfast. I on the other hand would like to try another flavor ........but it would break their hearts.More
Went in with high expectations, but walked out with just an okay pizza experience. Looking at the pizza and the location I wanted it to taste amazing. However I felt the pizza was just basic. If I was really hungry, nothing else was open, and...I really wanted pizza, I'd go there again. But unless that happens, I won't return and cannot recommend.More
I went to lunch by myself as I had some work to do. The lunch special is very reasonable for a small pizza, salad and drink. It’s surprising to find a place on Grand Avenue that’s not crowded at lunch time and relatively quiet. I...hope it stays that way and everyone orders take out.More
Family friendly atmosphere, although we usually do take out. The best are the chicken and the spinach and mushroom deep dish pizzas but the cheese thin pizza is always a favorite for the crowd that don't like deep dish or want both kinds. The crust...is my favorite and stays crisp and the flavorful tomato sauce is the best on it.More
