Excellent food. The mixed grill was prepared on the fire in front of us served with tasty potatoes & veggies. We were guests of the hotel so the restaurant was open for lunch especially for us on the day of our arrival. The setting is beautiful with the fireplace, beautiful paintings, romantic atmosphere. Do not miss if you are in... More

We were staying in the area and were having a hard time finding a good restaurant, when my partner found I due papi. He was sold from the moment he set foot in the place. They were closed but still prepared to welcome him and give him a tour through the restaurant. Which is located on top of the hill... More

After a glass of prosecco we were shown to our table on the terrace, in the shadow of the main castle tower. The food matched the setting - traditional Italian; good antipasti, pasta with boar ragu, veal, and a good selection of puddings. The menu is quite short but concentrates on local produce, likewise with the wine list - we... More

Our experience at I Due Papi was great. The service was excellent, food delicious, and prices are reasonable. We enjoyed the best grilled vegetables ever -- crispy and seasonal. We will most certainly return.

In a small privately owned castle, this is a destination worthy of the effort takes to get there-it’s in Avigliano Umbro – Terni; a beautifully maintained place, eleven hotel rooms that make it a great overnight destination as well; the Countess is a delightful hostess, and is willing to postpone her tasks to visit and tell a few stories about... On the doorstep of the hotel. We ate there three nights running. Although it was quiet the service and food were excellent. All local produce and nicely produced. Complimented by local wines of excellent quality.

Thank you very much for your review. Simone and Eleonora, the young couple from Sismano that helps me running the restaurant is really trying hard to mix traditional dishes and innovative ones always using ingredients locally outsourced . I hope to have you back in Sismano in the near future! More

We first went to Sismano for the opening of a well curated art exhibition "Per un arte fluida", a few weeks ago. There we met Ginevra, the lovely owner of the castle, who suggested we should come for dinner to the "2 Papi" Restaurant. So we did a few days later. The atmosphere was magical, with just a few tables... More

We had a great evening at this restaurant in a castle. The atmosphere is terrific, the food and service very good and the overall experience wonderful. We also had the added pleasure of having the contessa, the restaurant's owner, join us for drinks before dinner. She is a delightful woman with most interesting stories.

Cooked over the fire in the dining room fireplace - this restaurant has it all. A great ambiance, the Italian food, the slow food service, a small town atmosphere (Sismano) and a beautiful dining room.

I enjoyed eating here, in front of the enormous fireplace, in a beautiful, historic room. I ordered Chinanina filet of beef, Bufala mozzarella and delicious, homemade fresh pasta. For dessert we shared a coffee panna cotta. this restaurant is located in an ancient Borgo, or tiny hamlet....very romantic.....not far from the town of Todi, in Umbria, Italy

The restaurant "I due Papi" (The Two Popes) it's just a few steps from the Borgo, in the ancient wine cellars and stables of the Castle. Actually, two popes owned Sismano in the past. One was Benedetto Caetani (Pope Boniface VIII), who purchased Sismano in 1294, four years before his election. The other was Lorenzo Corsini (Pope Clement XII),whose family had bought Sismano more than a century before his election in 1730. Today the restaurant is still owned and managed by a descendant of this florentine princely family. At the Restaurant "I due Papi" you will experience the true local dishes of the Umbrian cuisine. The chianina steak of Sismano's organic farm and the game from Sismano's hunting estate are barbecued in the big fireplace in the restaurant's dining room.
