Super meal - we had steak and chips and a huge pork chop with Dauphinois potatoes - both excellent. Wonderful sticky toffee pudding that was served with fudge pieces as well as ice cream - just delicious- pudding was really light and fluffy. Our waiter...was Rhodri who went out of his way to check that all was well - super, friendly and attentive service. Very few restaurants seem to open on Mondays these days so if you are stuck for somewhere to eat, we heartily recommend. Thank you!More

We had to wait one hour and 10 minutes for a burger, we ended up leaving in the end as the order still wasn’t being prepared.

Nice venue, very disappointing lack of flexibility from the chef. My kids aged 6 & 8 wanted to have cheese on toast whilst 4 adults were having mains off the menu. The chef refused to do this despite selling cheese sandwiches and Welsh rarebit. The...kids decided to go for Welsh rarebit which they didnt like the flavour of. It would have been so easy to do cheese on toast and make everyone happy. Look after your customers wishes 'Chef'. I also got the impression your staff are scared to speak up and raise issues or challenge simple things like this. Team work makes the dream work. Your staff however were very nice.More

Great lunchtime spot, staff were very friendly and accommodating and they have some great window seat spots to watch the world go by. The rarebit was a highlight and I requested crispy bacon which came out perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Had lunch here while visiting the castle. The Mediterranean salad 'special' was delicious and the very friendly staff provided excellent service. We sat outside in the summer overlooking the garden. A truly memorable lunch. Couldn't fault a thing.

What a beautiful setting, food was great. Lovely to see veg from the garden at the castle is used on the menu. Using lots of local produce. The Delicatsessen down stairs is new since we last visited, & had a nice little selection of Welsh...products. Staff were very friendly even though they were obviously very busy. We have been to a few cafés in town recently, but it's always a pleasure to return here.More

We’ve visited a few times for coffee and cake but having seen the quality of food being served to others decided to come for Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed!! Beautifully presented - perfectly cooked roast with an amazing selection of veg that we lost...count of. Everything on the plate was prepared with meticulous care - friendly staff - lovely surroundings - really can’t fault and wound struggle to improve on. I’ve paid twice as much for food that’s half as good in some places - brilliant!!More

We arrived stupidly late for Cardigan's wonderful Barley Saturday. We were so pleased to have been able to find a place in this brilliantly sited, open plan restaurant. The staff were amazing, particularly as this was a crazily busy day and they were catering for...a wedding, too. The food was generously portioned and excellent. Our happening to find this restaurant definitely made our day!More

We ate here twice - once for lunch and then for breakfast the next morning. The table staff were pleasant on both occasions but the lunch time staff were obviously far better trained or just showed more interest/initiative than the morning staff. The restaurant is...lovely inside with enjoyable views all around and the lunch time staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a variety of dishes and all were tasty and hot, if expensive. As we had enjoyed lunch, because we were returning to Cardigan the next day to visit the castle, we decided to go back to 1176 for breakfast. My husband, although not vegetarian opted for the vegetarian breakfast and I had the full English. My husband said his meal was okay but mine was really bland and even when I added seasoning, it was pretty tasteless. As for the local sausage, there was a very unpleasant aftertaste and I couldn't eat them. I am afraid if that was local produce, it is no recommendation, as I would not return there for breakfast at all. Again, for the size of the portions we had and the0 quality of the ingredients, breakfast was extremely over priced. With such a choice of eating establishments in Cardigan, when we next return, it is unlikely to be to 1176.More
