Meal with friends, Sancerre arrived at the table opened, fish - haddock - bread coating was dark brown, fish was dry and chewy, compeltely overdone, had to correct coffee and desert orders 3 times. After many excellent experiences in the past we were very disappointed.

We are vegan and I am also gluten free which presents difficulties in such small towns. We stayed in town two nights and ate here both nights. We had their veggie burger the first night - homemade and very good. We talked to the waitress about what might be available the next night and she was very accommodating, promising that... More

I did enjoy the food, which was beautifully cooked and is fully recommended. However, I did find that it wasn't very cosy or inviting for a solo traveller; but being British, I couldn't quite bring myself to change my mind and go find a small pub! The dining room is quite big, dark (wall-to-wall dark decor) and stark, with big... More

I am writing a second review of this restaurant as I have 'upgraded' it from good to excellent. We were given a really warm welcome and the quality of service throughout dinner was excellent. The haddock was delicious, as was the vegetarian cauliflower and jerusalem artichoke bake. The brown bread to accompany was fresh and of good taste. Wine by... More

Very friendly atmosphere and superb food. Good variety for vegetarians. Definitely high-end food at mid-range prices! I will definitely be back.

Meal was wonderful and filling after a day of hill walking. Staff was very pleasant with some great advice for the local are. Good beer selection. On a June weekend I was able to get a dinner table without a reservation! I felt very lucky.

It was a blustery day in Ullapool and I thought the Cheilidh Place (CP) would be the ideal place to take my three year old granddaughter for a quick lunch. Admittedly we took the table right at the back, the one behind the table of to which was unusable due to the drips from the glass extension but it took... More

A wet in blustery afternoon in Ullapool led me to believe that the Cheilidh Place would be the ideal place to take my three year old granddaughter for lunch. Admittedly we took the very back table, the one behind the table for two which was unusable due to the drips from the glass ceilinged extension but it took ten minutes... More

I have enjoyed staying at the Ceilidh Place and eating there on previous occasions. They have coped well with my gluten intolerance. I was looking forward to a special meal this week, but the only gluten-free main was burger without the bun. Specifically, the fish and chicken meals were covered with breadcrumbs and wheat had been used in the venison... More
