Stopped here for lunch by choice today with some friends who hadn't been before. We weren't disappointed. Same great standard of service and food as on previous visits. 2 of us had the hot-smoked salmon with sun-dried tomatoes on crumpets (with a generous side salad) and proclaimed it yummy! The others had a trio of salmon and salmon with cream... More

Everything on the menu is good, but keep a look out for the smoked haggis lasagne! The smoked kippers are also worth buying for later, better than the ones from Whitby.

Stopped for a coffee and a cake, both were delicious. We ended up trying and buying the shops own smoked products which are fab. Highly recommended.

Beautiful setting, with Carsluith castle in the garden which makes for an interesting look around. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Sadly the food just didn't quite hit the mark. I had the famous battered salmon and chips. The chips did not appear to be homemade and for just short of £10 I would have liked hand cut chips. The salmon... More

This little gem is set in such a stunning location. The food is lovely and the staff were great, so friendly and helpful. If you drop by you must pay attention to the artwork on display, my friend and I thought they were something special and were stunned to find they were hand painted by the owner! We were blown... We had a quick, tasty and good value lunch, followed by an expensive visit to the shop. Do go to the restaurant, but some of the shop's produce wasnt altogether successful in my view.

We found out about this place when we stayed at the owners holiday cottage nearby in October 2012. And we thought we'd pay a visit. We definatley werent disappointed! The staff were all so welcoming and made us feel valued. The food is 5*. We were lucky enough to return in June 2013 and during our stay we had a... More

Really nice food in a pleasant location with really helpful staff, especially as we had a problem with our vehicle overheating!!!! Excellent spot, and what a surprise being right next to a castle!! A great treat.
