Good food. Pasta good and oven cooked cod and new potatoes especially nice. Nice puddings -Italian style. With drinks -£90 for 4 people. Happy to recommend.

Hope and Anchor is popular - all the tables were full or reserved. But they fitted us in. We had come for the fish and chips because it's the best. Gigantic fillets of fish, but not just big, delicately cooked and delicious. Proper chips, chunks...More

As well as great Italian food they have a take-a-way fish and chip service. Dog friendly in the bar and has a good atmosphere. Good beers.

I have been to this restaurant on 5/6 occasions as they are dog friendly in the bar area. The food is fantastic, both the italian menu and the Sunday lunch and I wouldn't come to amble without eating here.

We ate here based on other reviews. Fish and chips was pretty good, pizza ok, fish cakes poor (gloopy consistency). Service wasn’t good at all - all but one of the waiting staff was surly. Wouldn’t visit again or recommend.

Met with friends here to start a weekend away - the meeting point at the end of our journeys from various parts of the country. Pub looked great from the street. The food was really good - I only arrived in time for pudding. The...More

Happy with: Attentive service, lovely Italian food which food came out quickly, portion was just right, pasta was cooked ‘al dente’ and they didn’t skimp on the seafood. Tasty sauce too. Would like to see: More Italian wines. It’s a decent range of grape varieties...More

Hello, Thank you for your review. Our wine list is hand chosen by us and we found for value for money the Australian wine really out performed the european wines. The Italian wines are very expensive for similar quality to the Australian wines.

Sunday lunch was great. Three small joints of pork, beef and lamb brought on a wooden serving board for us to carve. Yorkshire puds, and a good variety of veg: roast potatoes, mash potatoes and swede, parsnips, cabbage, carrots and gravy. I had Peroni and...More

We had a evening meal here and were underwhelmed. The service lets the place down. The guy behind the bar was surly (so unlike everyone else we’ve met in Northumberland) and he put a dampener on the ambience. Those of us who had the fish...More

The fish & chips was enough for two and very nicely cooked, but very oily - it hadn’t been drained, which was a shame as it spoilt an otherwise enjoyable meal

Definitely a child friendly place. Was a really friendly and helpful place so I'm sure if you asked the chef would be able to accommodate you. All the good is cooked fresh and to order.
