Nice hotel with great food. The room was so warm overnight in early March that we had to open the window.
We had to wait for our breakfast longer than others and the food arrived almost cold and you could tell it was cooked a little while ago.

Having lived fairly locally for a while, we finally got around to trying out the Egypt Mill restaurant and are glad that we did!
The venue was quite busy with a wedding and a few Christmas meals going on but all was well managed so didn’t affect our visit. Our server was Molly who was friendly and available if needed but not intrusive. The dining room itself is nicely laid out and tables spaced quite well So with covid hanging around this was quite welcome.
Onto the food. . . We started with the baked Camembert with Brioche and chutney to share which was amazing and didn’t last long. The mains were really well presented and cooked to perfection. I went for the Sirloin (cooked medium rare) which was perfectly cooked and came with chunky chips & side salad. My wife opted for the King Prawn & Chorizo Linguine which was a good portion and had plenty of prawn & chorizo. Normally, I tend to find that the ‘added value’ ingredients are a bit lacking but not here. . . Loads of the stuff!! For pudding we went for the crumble to share with baileys sauce and ice cream. Oh. . . My. . . . God. . . .it is to die for and one of the best puddings I have had in a long, long time.
In terms of price, it’s neither cheap or expensive so would suit most pockets but you do get value for money so definitely worth a visit.

I visited here for lunch with a friend. It offered a different menu from other restaurants which I found encouraging. I chose the Coq au Vin as you don't see this on many mainstream menus. This would have been OK had the chef known what Coq au Vin is, better still how to cook it. Coq au Vin is basically chicken marinated in red wine then broiled in red wine, stock and cognac. I very much doubt if this chicken, or the red wine gravy, saw any wine at all. When marinated in red wine the chicken takes on some of the colour, and flavour, of the red wine, as does the gravy. This chicken was so white it almost looked bleached and totally tasteless, as was the gravy. My best guess is that this chicken was boiled in water with a tasteless gravy poured over it. The best part of this meal was the chocolate tart served for dessert. The service was exceptional, polite, professional, attentive and very respectful. Just a pity the food did not even live upto its title let alone expectations. Despite this it seems to be a very popular venue and was packed out by 1pm.

Very poor service, waiting for 25 minutes for drinks order to arrive whilst waitresses chatting. Food ok but portions change depending on chef. Avoid superman salad as it only contains a spoonful ofcouscous a bit of broccoli some odd lumps of cheese for £12.95.

The staff are not terribly friendly or at all attentive, and if I was being honest the food was very poor.
The chicken salad, consisted of a piece of dry, tough overcooked chicken with a bland salad. The Haddock and Chips was extremely oily, had no flavour, and I suspect it was actually Cod or Pollock rather than Haddock as stated. Also, some genius thought it would be a good idea to dollop the "crushed peas" on top of the fish. The mussels were not fresh and were cooked to death with little flavour. It would seem that either the kitchen staff are incompetent or simply don't care, either way what they served up was shameful.
I'd normally bring issues like this to the attention of the waiting staff, but a family member attending struggles to cope with confrontations, so to spare his embarrassment we didn't complain (when we should have).
My advice would be to avoid this establishment as there are far better places to eat at the same price or cheaper.

This is our 3rd visit since they reopened for food. Each time we have sat outside and you can’t fault this place for the effort they make on their outside area. When we visited on Thursday the food was very disappointing. Wife had Steak £26 and myself burger £16 (Wagu but no other toppings) it was just not great, very little food for the price and not great meat. The first time we came in May it was better so overall for the 3 visits I really have to say its very average (for the money they are charging)
Really not keen on being sent to our table with this instruction ‘order on the App or come order at the bar and pay as you go’ is that really a restaurant? When we went to our table someone else was sat on it so I had to go back into the bar to Q again to sort it out. (Not very relaxing)
I did make the App work this time (last time it just froze my phone) however ended up with 3 charges on my credit card for 2 rounds of drinks and the food (sorry it’s just a waste of time and if I want the kind of service they do at McDonald’s I will go there and pay £5 for a burger (which I think may have been nicer than the one I had on Thursday)
Anyway lots of other better places around and about for food and personal service so we we just keep this place for a drink in the future. Shame really as it used to be our ‘go to place’ now its our ‘go to if we have no other choice’

We had an early evening meal for 6 plus a young child. The service was very good and the staff were very accommodating. We had a mixture of sharing nibbles and the starter scallops; everything was excellent. The mains were a nut roast, a couple of Thai chicken curries, and three fish and chips. The Thai curries were a bit thick and on the bland side, but the rest seemed to be great. These were followed by complimentary deserts of key lime pie and chocolate fudge cake. The mains at “early bird” £10 were amazing value.

We we're staying in the area and this gem came highly recommend by a local, as a great place to visit.
It has everything for a charming evening out. We turned up early in the day to book a table for that evening. While there we were shown around the outside eating area & were invited to explore the main gardens and water mill history at our leisure.
As we were bringing our dog we would be eating outside, there are lots of different choices of areas, waterside tables, or or by the outdoor open fire or in the pub garden gravelled area. There are plenty of covered areas too for when the weather is questionable. Fantastic atmosphere and ambience.
The staff couldn’t do enough for us, they are a great team, all have excellent manners & customer service skills. All really friendly and very efficient. Good varied menu. All our food was delicious, freshly prepared, well presented and they even provided treats for the dog. Great value for money too.
Cleanliness is to a very high standard, with extra care and emphasis given in light of current covid regs (eg: single use menus, very clear on e way systems, sanitising stations everywhere, tables, chairs, benches continually being thoroughly cleaned once used. )
Tables are very spaciously placed allowing plenty of room for social distancing.
10 out of 10 as a great place to visit & eat. We would defiantly recommend, visit again and hope to stay in the hotel in the future.

Have visited many times and was pleased EM was open again as such a unique venue. Menu limited but that’s understandable in the circumstances. We chose to have pizza. They are rectangle in shape and good dough but the topping was disappointingly scant. Considering the outrageous price for Pizzas £12 - £14.50 you would at least expect a decent And tasty topping. Certainly not a good value option. So won’t be having that again. Service was good although I agree that social distancing was not observed.

As none smoker we were told that the decking area is non- smoking area but they were other guest in this area who were smoking . The menu is very small and i get it as new owner are trying to find out what is best for the area. But i find it very hard to understand why to sell you Pulled Pork Nachos from their mains menu when is served nearly cold and very few chips with their Battered Haddock . Could not find a dessert to out tests as only were three chooses .

Ate here during a walk around NaiIsworth on a late Sunday morning for a impromptu Sunday lunch. Plenty of tables, should get in without booking. I had roast beef £18.99 not cheap for one course but it was very nice , and as other meals around the same price..pizza 15.99 I was happy with my choice. There was a crafty upsell of side orders by asking if for example you wanted cauliflower cheese on your posh lunch. I said, umm yes ok then say that's was another £5 extra , I assumed it was included.
Nice desserts, , nice place. 3rd visit over years looks a nice place to stay if visiting the area too.plenty of parking.
Would definitely return.

One of the most dreadful meals I have ever been unfortunate enough to have placed before me. The sole of my shoe would have been more enjoyable than the over cooked, tasteless burger I momentarily endured. Having refused this ghastly monstrosity I returned home for a most enjoyable sandwich. Thank goodness for my wonderful companions who saved the evening. Avoid, avoid, avoid, not even dinner on Rishi makes this worthwhile.

A very pleasant couple of nights away. Staff are extremely efficient and friendly. Food that we had was delicious, cooked the way we asked for it and very quickly served. We had a superior room which we felt was a little basic but that could have been down to soft furnishings being removed due to Covid. Plenty of measures in place to keep guests socially distanced and safe.

Having found this little gem whilst doing our research into the area we decided to go for our lunch at 13.45 . On arrival with our little four legged friend in tow we were greeted by a young enthusiastic lady who welcomed us all and informed us how dog friendly the establishment was . Once seated we downloaded the app and was able to order our drinks /food without having to move . The service was exceptional we only waited five minutes for our drinks to arrive and less than thirty minutes for our delicious lunch. The staff were extremely happy to bag up our leftovers to take home . Well done to all involved in our visit

Had a lovely meal for my birthday. They are child friendly and my nephew was kept entertained with a goody bag.
Great value for money with good portion sizes, the children’s menu is great, which is hard to find in Nailsworth now!
