Visited The Brit yesterday and it was fab! We were a large party so we pre-ordered, the food was really lovely, staff couldn't have been more helpful - both with requests sent via email in advance and on the evening. Atmosphere was relaxed and warm - everything we wanted to make the evening special. Would highly recommend!

We popped in for a impromptu lunch today. We were a group of five people including two children. The two children had burgers from the children’s menu and the adults went with BLTs and goats cheese sandwiches. I can wholeheartedly say that the BLT was the best I’ve ever had and the children were very impressed with their burgers and chips. My wife and elder daughter both enjoyed their sandwiches especially the goats cheese roasted red pepper and pesto one. The Britannia was a very welcoming establishment and the waiters were extremely helpful I would highly recommend the food and look forward to coming back again

The staff are brilliant! The drink selection is great but I always go for the same thing as it’s what I enjoy! I have tried a pizza there. Excellent fresh and would recommend. For me personally I would like tons more garlic as I’m a garlic fiend and really eat too much garlic for the average joe! If you enjoy a good pub atmosphere, good selection of drinks with staff who are top of their game consistently whist leaving you alone to enjoy what you do. The Brit is britlance! Sorry for the bad pun there! I can’t recommend them highly enough.
PS. If you are concerned about the COVID restrictions. Please don’t worry. They have you covered. They take it very seriously. Wouldn’t want to do anything I shouldn’t. They keep people in line.
Well worth a visit even if it’s just to have a glass or two too keep these dark nights at bay!

Booked table for 7.30
Was told on arrival that two standard meals were off the menu. It’s not the largest of menus so this reduced the choice. The app that was supposed to take our order failed to apply discount so we asked for table service. That took 15 minutes! When someone eventually came to take our order they notified us that another couple of meals were no longer available!
So we were left with vegetarian vegan or snacks
Very poor experience that will not be repeated

Visited for a family dinner. My main course had been doused in salt and other members had quality problems. All meals were presented well but with minimal quantities and maximum prices. We were advised that we could order desserts (also expensive) but would have to wait for their preparation as the kitchen was very busy! (At 7.00 on a Saturday evening with about a dozen other diners in a large restaurant!!) We left hungry, without taking a dessert and very disappointed. Will not be returning.

Having done our research on where to eat we ended up in this relaxing pub , the beer was nice and cold almost as cold as the reception we received from the frosty and blunt staff . Having placed our order for food I was so hungry as not eaten all day . The food arrived and was synthetically pleasing. After the first bit I could taste the deluxe bugger was straight out of the freezer , the freshly baked bun was burnt on top and crispy underneath , the frozen chips that accompanied the meal were less than crispy , having eaten only the garnish and pickle we left vowing never to return

We live locally and have been eating at the Brit for years. Their pizzas have always a great favourite with us and our children. We ate there last night, and although we were impressed with their Covid precautions, the main courses that we had were TINY! I went for fish of the day for £16.50 - although the fish was delicious and a reasonable size, there was barely and potato as advertised, and what there was looked like barely cooked-through frozen cubes of white potato. small new potatoes roasties, dauphinoise or new potatoes in a larger quantity would have suited the dish better. A diner shouldn't have to order sides at this price! My husbands veggie burger was dinky with a very small handful of chips and no salad. We left the pub feeling hungry and won't be back for food. We came to the Brit before lockdown and had the same problem twice, complained to the waitress both times but obviously no-one has taken our view on board.
The waiter was lovely and gave us a free drink but as this has happened previously and we have provided feed back which wasn't listened to, it is stressful to complain, we won't be eating here again. Shame.

Our menu is created for a multi-course meal, however since we have had the fish of the day on the menu, we haven`t had any negative feedback.

We often ate at the Brit before lockdown and always thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience so we were really looking forward to returning for our first meal out since March.
We knew things would be different due to Covid restrictions but weren't prepared for quite how much.
We weren't greeted at all on arrival although the restaurant was virtually empty and were left to puzzle through the "seating plan" on the wall unassisted although a member of staff did then offer a better option to the allocated table.
Having worked out how to get the menu up on our phones we found it extremely limited and if you didn't want chips the only option was sausage and mash. I wanted a glass of wine but there was no option to order this on the menu, only bottles although we subsequently saw people ordering glasses of wine from the bar.
When the food arrived it was thrust at us from the end of the table. Given the staff are all wearing masks it seemed ultra cautious and we couldn't see why they couldn't stand at a distance to take orders in person so we didn't feel quite so much like lepers!
The food itself was very good and we couldn't fault it but the overall experience was disappointing and was all over in less than an hour. Surely there could be just a little distanced interaction between staff and customers?

Hi, thank you for your review. We are really sorry that you felt so dissappointed, we are still trying to get use to all this "new" as well. We are working for a better quality service, but we also need to focus on our staff and customers safety, which means our time next to the tables is minimum as possible. On our new ordering system, you can find the options for the glass sizes, but you need to select the bottle first. We do hope that we are going to see you again.

We chose to come to The Britannia as we’d enjoyed the food that the chef had cooked in a restaurant where he’d previously worked. We weren’t disappointed! I had the goats cheese and roasted pepper sandwich and my daughter had the BLT, we also dmdid swaps so we could taste each other’s. My sandwich was really tasty, a real meal in itself and actually I’m not a massive goats cheese fan but it was complimented so well by the roasted peppers that I’m converted! My mum had a vegetarian broad bean burger... she absolutely loved it. She’s now wondering if the chef will make a pack of them to go in her freezer! She loved the flavours and the spices.
We left with full tummies and smiling faces. Thanks to all at The Brit, our waiter was sweet and the food was delicious!

Me and my other half enjoyed a lovely meal for a date night . I had a steak that was cooked to perfection and I am a fussy with my steaks, my other half had the chicken dish also very good. Staff were very friendly and polite definitely will be repeating the experience soon.

We had a lovely pizza lunch at the Brit today. Staff were attentive as usual and went out of their way to look after us including cleaning up a spilt glass of coke on the floor. The new pizza menu was yummy and plenty of choice - both adults and children were happy!

Wow. Drove up from Bristol today to meet friends for lunch. Sunday lunch was amazing and we all enjoyed the roast beef with sides of cauliflower cheese. This was not disappointing in the slightest and I like to think I know a good Sunday roast when I see one. The service was absolutely top notch and for those worried about going out due to Covid this felt very safe with clear direction around the pub, lots of sanitiser points located around the venue and the tables were incredibly spaced out so you feel really safe. My friends live in nailsworth and have never been in before but will definitely be back and I won’t hesitate to make the 45 min drive up to meet them
Still suffering in a good coma 6 hours later 😃 fab job everyone it was all spot on...... see you again ASAP

Being tired one evening we booked at the last minute and were so impressed. First visit. Great surroundings, nice easy going atmosphere. The waiter explained there'd be a slight delay as the chicken piece in the chicken supreme is all cooked from fresh. Worth waiting for - it was really tasty. Burger we also had was delicious. Staff helpful and friendly.

We went here for a Sunday Lunch 11th july, really good , excellent value. So we decided to have midweek lunch 14th july. Absolutely terrible !!
First the waiter forgot what our drinks order was. We then had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, Pork Escallope . which to put it mildly, was apalling. The park was overcooked and looked and tasted like it had come out of a supermarket "Ready prepared" meal isle. It was accompanied by a stringy piece of cabbage and a very small amount of just warm crushed potatoes. All in all a disappointing very much overpriced lunch, which I reported to the waitress whose only excuse was that we had not pre booked our meal. Shocking. We were not the only ones complaining about the time delays.

Recent visits have been enjoyed, and it's great to find that high standards are being consistently achieved: great to look forward to good food and service and not be disappointed! This means taking friends is also pleasurable, and recent guests have already returned - good repeat business for the Brit.
Debbie and her team deserve great credit for what is being achieved, the quality of steaks on offer is a credit to Taylors butchers, and the steak night offer includes a very palatable Portuguese red wine, making the evening dinner good value.
Long may the Britannia continue to welcome us and many new and returning diners.
Hot tip: If you are looking for a starter, ask to see the bar snack menu as well as the main menu - we love the chicken wings and Welsh Cakes with cheese!
