Food OK but really nothing out of the ordinary. Decor looking a little tired these days - feel the restaurant needs a revamp.

My family treated myself and my husband to £100 gift voucher for Rick stein at home. We ordered the indo curry box and the cheese box. It came to £110 so we made up the £10. All I can say is… we would be completely...gutted if we’d spent our hard earned cash on this!! We threw most of the mussels away (starter) as they were already open! The main was very dry as there was not enough sauce for the indo curry and the dessert was just some broken meringue with a pot of cream and a passion fruit to make an Eton mess. Come on now… we could have bought a ready made one from Tesco at less than a quarter of the price that I’m sure would have been tastier!! The cheese box contained only 2 cheeses, some olives, standard crackers, a pinch of pate and a very small smelly sausage… all for the grand price of £50!!! I think Harrod’s hampers are cheaper and contain a lot more! My husband and I are complete foodies and have no issue paying out for great food but on this occasion we were disappointed to say the least. We won’t use Rick stein at home again.More

We drove over to Padstow and paid to park our car in the car park. We had a wander around the harbour and then made our way to the cafe only to find a notice on the door saying that they were closed due to...staffing issues. I have totally sympathy for everything that the hospitality industry has had to go through but to not contact a customer to advise them of the closure is just unforgivable. It was also ironic that on the email confirmation there is a note asking customers to advise the Cafe if they change their plans. Surely politeness and courtesy works both ways. It would have been the first visit for our friends but it was not to be. Fortunately for us a locally run pub was able to accommodate us. They simply had a polite notice saying bear with them because of the staff shortages.More

Visited as a family, great experience but food nothing special and disappointed by the very high prices. Be aware of 12% optional service charge…

Now had most of the fish dishes and they are perfect and simple to put together. In lock down had zoom dinner parties with my kids who live a distance away. Of all the eat at home I think these are the best!! Well done...Rick Jack and Team!!More

Pad Thai prawn was really good and flavourful, but noodles were slightly over cooked- they stuck together so we’re quite stodgy and sticky. Fish and chips were nice: we had haddock and chips, and they were really fresh. The chips were a little hard but...that may have been because they were left in a heater for too long, same goes for the Pondicherry cod curry. Pondicherry cod curry was very fragrant- the coconut popped out but I felt like something was missing. They also make the tartare sauce themselves here. I highly recommend the pad Thai prawn if you like seafood and noodles.More

But couldn’t as the restaurant was closed on our booking day without any email or phone call. Let down four times in three months by the stein company ! From absolute hero to regrettable zero!

Delicious imaginative food & good service. Have visited The Seafood restaurant twice before & has been good but thought try cafe this time (booked well in advance), not really a cafe as you'd think of one, more a bistro. I had vietnamese chicken salad to...start, lovely, then the hake with laksa noodles, spicy & delicious. Dessert was also lovely but have forgotten exactly what it was!...think spmething chocolate with a fruit sorbet (it was few weeks ago). Def recommendMore

Brilliant lunch here - really enjoyed it. Great food and the service was great too. My wife and I went with two of our teenage kids, so basically 4 adults! We all had three courses, a bottle of wine and some soft drinks and it...was a bit over £200 - that’s great value for somewhere so good. We all had a bit of each other’s dinner, of course, and all of it was brilliant! Our waiter recommended the sea bass and that was extremely good! 100% we would go back again. Thank you to the waiter and waitress who looked after us - they both made it great fun!More

No .. You can’t go in just for a drink.. However Steins have a wine bar called Ruby’s in Padstow which is great for drinks..
