Dropped in for dinner while staying nearby. They appear to be popular for BBQ but I tried the catfish plate. Very good meal. Servers were friendly, atmosphere very much down home, and the menu offered an interesting variety from fish to BBQ and even Quail. Not fancy, but the food was good. Breakfast anytime of the day. If you want... More

I decided to try this restaurant since it was close to the motel we were staying at. I ordered the bbq pork sandwich with coleslaw and the bbq beef sandwich with coleslaw. I also ordered fries and onion rings and the waitress supplied the ketchup, forks and napkins so I could take it back to the room. My wife and... More

Gene's is a local hangout, you meet the locals there. For is southern and served fast. The BBQ is tasty, the pork and the ribs were tender and flavorful. Wait staff very southern and eager to please.

We love to check out local spots, and this is definitely one of the best in town. This place has lots of character, and the food is not so bad either! I wouldn't say it's the best bbq I've ever had, but when you consider the other alternatives in town, you can't go wrong here. Good thing we were not... More

We stopped in Brinkley after seeing a highway sign about Ivory Billed Woodpeckers last sighted in 2004. Gene's had several cars parked in front so we stopped for lunch, not expecting a great meal. They had some menu items with names to honor the woodpoeckers once an area inhabitant. I tried the BBQ which tasted good. My wife found fat on... More

This restaurant used to be the best restaurant in town, but the owner has completely lost interest. It used to serve fresh smoked meat, home cooked food and homemade desserts. I'm not sure that anything is freshly made anymore. Most of the food seems to be purchased from food services, meaning heat and eat.

I'm not a BBQ Master and I suspect neither is Gene. The BBQ pork was average at best. But my biggest disappointment was the fried pies. You might say that my sister and I are on a quest for a good fried pie like Mama used to make. So when we saw them listed on the menu and the selections... More

Friendly service with excellent BBQ choices, and steak and desert. Everyone friendly and helpful in our visit re our trip. Nearby Days Inn, and picnic tables off ramp selling peaches and watermelon make it nice, quiet place to visit.

I am not sure what is going on here but I was disappointed my last 2 times visiting there. The service was almost non existent, baked potato hard inside, just a bad meal. Maybe they have new wait staff, new cooks. I will try it again but no more bringing outside visitors there, just me.

Thank Jane H
