Wonderful atmosphere and venue

Wonderful small restaurant in the back streets of Saligao. We stumbled across this place and are so glad we did. We were lucky to get a table on the Monday we came. It’s live jazz and old time and hugely popular. By 8:30pm the music was playing and by 9pm the place was packed full with people waiting for tables. The menu is a mix of foods western, Indian, Thai and a great drinks choice. What we had was good but a warning the Goan food is seriously hot! We had a fantastic night of food, wine (imported wine actually affordable for a change) and music. The place was buzzing. We returned on the Thursday. Another nice night but much quieter but with a good singer.

A lively place to meet friends

We celebrated a friends birthday and it was great fun, food and music. Towards the later part of the evening the floor ignited and everyone had a blast. On Monday evenings this is a place to be. The service was exceptional despite the place being pretty full, including standees waiting for a table.

Monday Evening Magic!!!

Recommended by my daughter to go for a Monday Jazz evening. The place is magical. So romantic... we reached there by 9 pm the place was chockablock. Decided to wait for a table to get vacated. But no chance... waited for 45 minutes had a drink while standing, though enjoyed the whole experience. Music can certainly be better it was barely jazz. In spite of some disappointment, its a must visit - so our learning reaches early and enjoy till late night.

Nothing much to eat !

The place is quaint and charming, however has few tables to offer. We got a table without waiting at all. But we were disappointed when more than half the items in the menu was UNAVAILABLE. It was extremely disappointing as it was late in the night and we were hungry and too far away from any other restaurant. They said they didn’t have a Thai chef, when half their menu has Thai food.

The restaurant is beautifully

The restaurant is beautifully located in the Saligaon Village and is quite a drive from Calangute, especially in the evenings! I visited there with my wife and two kids on a Thu night and it was literally empty at around 9:30pm. Hence we got a table pretty easily! The place is not accessible by physically handicapped and I would cut down two points for that! The menu while is decently designed more than half of the dishes were not available for various reasons! The only chef they had was a Goan chef and hence none of the other cuisines were available. Limited choices for people who don’t have buff/pork. The cocktail menu is pretty limited as well! The band however was good enough for one to be engaged and definitely earns a point! The second point is a combination of the food we had and the hospitality the waiters displayed! Long way to go for Cantare to be truly hospitable!

Cantare has been one of our favourite places to visit in Goa. In fact we have spend. Last 5 New Years eves here - listening and dancing to the Band. While at the ambiance and music still ‘Ricks’ last nights buffet was very average - please up your food game fast before you start loosing your repeated customers.

Amazing place, truly a hidden gem !

Amazing place, truly a hidden gem. This oddly satisfying place has a very old world charm to it. The architecture and the interior are on another level all together, they have a very Portuguese/ gothic vibe going on. The seating is spaced out , the ceilings are huge . The restaurant is very welcoming and warm. The food is amazing and so is the service team, will definitely go back here! The best thing is the live jazz music , this establishment is an ode to it all!

I was here for Monday night

I was here for Monday night jazz. Nice place but the owner/manager has issues. I was wearing a sleeveless sports t-shirt. The owner/manager asked me if I had a regular shirt. I said no and didn’t know the place had a dress code. The manager/owner told me that yes they did have a dress code. I had visited their website before going there. Nowhere in their website did I see any dress codes mentioned. Also at the restaurant itself there was no signage of any dress code. On that night, there were plenty of women with sleeveless t shirts and dresses. The manager/owner did not have have any issues with their attire. I am a guy, so he has a problem ? Smells of discrimination. And to top it off, there were plenty of people with sandals, some even with flip flops. So much for dress codes... This experience left a foul taste in my mouth and I am never going back. The manager/owner needs an attitude adjustment.

Transphobic management, keep away if you don’t want to be an accomplice to their transphobia

Posting this as a friend, an ally, as a fellow human being who is just disgusted at the way Maurice/the restaurant management behaved towards a trans person by misgendering her, dehumainsing her, and ejecting her from the premises. Please see the screenshots attached— this kind of transphobic behaviour is also liable for legal action. Stay away if you don’t want to be an accomplice to this or share the screenshots widely.

Over hyped and over priced with poor service

This place Cantare is overpriced and overhyped it is on the first floor and you have to walk up the stairs If you have any older folks refrain from going there The service here is extremely poor and portions are very small The nachos are the readymade Doritos with some dried cheese on it sprinkled with some chicken The masala Calamari was dried and you get better ones in the roadside restaurants The beef cutlets were reheated and served 3 pcs you can get them a lot better in any small bakery or eatery The orders took at least 45 minutes to even get an appetizer on the table And hence we ordered the second course right away and had to wait for almost an hour Even if you have to ask for a drink or even ice you wait for a good 10 minutes We had to cancel a few of the orders as we could not wait after sitting for a couple of hours and not getting any service This is the service what you should expect if you go to this place Then the manager tells you this is normal to wait every one comes here for the ambiance not for food or drinks Nobody is bothered whether they get their drinks or food, they just come here to enjoy themselves This is what you can expect when you go to Cantare

This is a small joint beautifully designed Amazing cocktail and mocktail Food was disappointelment since the resident chef was not available. The owner recommended visiting the place on mondays to enjoy some music and dance

Beautiful old world charming restaurant

Great service, Beautiful location and interiors. We were the only guests on the evening of our visit and got personalized service. All items on the menu were not available but that is understandable given the low traffic in current season.
