I have wanted to go here for several years but have never made it....until now! It was a Sunday night in March (March 19th) during the height of the "season" for tourism in the area, spring training, NASCAR, LPGA were all on that weekend so Scottsdale was crazy busy, as was the Salt Cellar. We arrived about 7, you have... More

The trout, crab legs and pan fried oysters were delicious! I think the steak may have had some type of sugar coating as my husband's blood sugar spiked after that meal. The escargots weren't very flavorful and were served in mushroom caps rather than the traditional way. But the rest of the food, especially the fresh sourdough bread rolls, was... More

Your actually in the cellar. Stopped at bar to have a drink, very cozy and neat. Tried to pay tab and bartender just kept telling how much it was, then handed me a tab with just total, all the time he was ringing up every drink when we ordered one. Finally settled up, vodka tonic price was terrible. Enough of... More

The Phoenix area has so many wonderful restaurants, we recommend skipping this one. It's a popular place but we found the food disappointing, especially the crab cakes. The best item was my steak which isn't how it should be at a seafood restaurant. We tried four seafood appetizers none of which I'd recommend, leading to my decision to order steak for... More

My wife and I went here on our first date. It is one of our favorite places to eat seafood. Yes, it is expensive, but is it great food in a super unique atmosphere. I highly recommend the place.

Have celebrated many occasions at the SALT CELLAR since the late 1970's--have never been disappointed with food, or the service. Love the calamari and blue marlin appetizers--have enjoyed all the entrees that I have had. --wine list reasonably priced-- entrée pricing is creeping up however

Lets start with the positive, service was outstanding, atmosphere is unique, but food was mediocre for the price and hype of the place. Food made it to the table somewhat cold and the crab cakes I had seemed pre-cooked. My wifes lobster was ok not great. Wine list is fine and deserts were good. This is not a restaurant for... More

What a find! Seafood in the desert. And what is the history of this underground cavern? Inquiring minds wish to know. We all love seafood and definitely intend to return to the Salt Cellar restaurant. We started out at the bar with a bottle of wine and a few appetizers and ended up canceling our table reservation to continue our... More

This was my 4th time here in just a few months. I start with raw oysters and clams and I ALWAYS get the same thing, the lobster stuffed with crab and scallops. It is so good! I'm not a dessert person but my boyfriend orders the salted caramel gelato and I have never had anything so decadent. The service is... More

If you are looking for a super nice place to have some very good seafood this may be your best bet in Scottsdale. The only reason I can't give five stars is the bread is mediocre at best. The salad is nothing special and the appetizer we had (escargot) was nothing special. And that is unfortunate because the entrees are... More
