My wife and I took her cousin to Barrio Queen this past week. The food and margaritas were first rate, but the service was a bit on the slow side and a check mistake (that was cheerfully corrected) slightly marred the visit. Otherwise we would have given five stars. In the restaurant's defense it was a very busy night. We... More

I visited Phoneix with my hubby and we decided to shop at Scottsdale. Stumbled upon this restaurant, saw a gd queue. Ordered taco, soup, prawns with rice and hibiscus drink... all are good. For super health conscious you may find soup a bit salty. Taste is fantastic. The lady taking care of our table kept on checking on us. Gd... More

We happened upon this place while walking back from a different restaurant in the area and the husband noticed the Esquire award (he loves Mexican food), so we checked out the posted menu which looked really appealing. Thus, we made a point to try Barrio Queen for lunch during our vacation and it did not disappoint. In fact, it impressed... More

What a great place. Service was outstanding. The food was excellent. We started with El Don Margarita's, so smooth. Ordered the fresh Guacamole tableside, WOW. Along with the Queso Fundido. For our entree's tacos- battered fish (2) & (1) al pastor, they melt in your mouth. Also chiles en nogada and barrio pollo both great tasting dishes. Don't miss this... More

Business dinner, 4 people. Place was crowded but had empty tables. Service was very slow, waitress sat us down then vanished for 25 minutes. However table-side guacamole was excellent. 2 of the entrees were hot & great. 2 were lukewarm to cold in the middle but had good flavor. Need to pick up service & 2 entrees must have sat... More

Had plans to eat elsewhere that fell through and decided to try here. Busy night had to wait 20 min. for a patio table. Had a really good drink- the Queen's Cooler. Tasty chips and salsa. Assorted street tacos and enchiladas for entrees. All good. This is a solid restaurant.

Long wait for outside seating but worth it! The atmosphere on the patio was great and food very good too. You can get chips and salsa with a drink from the bar while waiting for a table. Our waitress wasn't too friendly but served us decently well. The food is decently good especially the fresh guacamole made table side. All... More

The guacamole was awesome, the décor was cool and the tequila selection was off the charts. I didn't partake but it was still stellar. I had the shrimp tacos, they were great. The serving size is a little underwhelming but in the end I was fed a great meal. Friendly service, great location.

Although the original Owner and Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza has left both Barrio Queen in Scottsdale as well as the new Barrio Queen in Gilbert (she still owns Barrio Cafe in Central Phoenix, her original venue) her legacy lives on. Or as she says, "I left a really good crew there" as well as her recipes. The four of us... More

Great fillings for the tacos but sometimes the place is so busy they prefill the tacos and the tortillas get soggy. Still, if you luck out and it's a slower day, the tortillas will knock your socks.
