We visited Puerto Almanza and stopped to eat at this beautiful restaurant. I recommend checking in advance by WhatsApp to reserve since the place is small, although they also serve on a first-come, first-served basis. The best thing about the experience was the attention!! The girl welcomed us in the best way and explained all the dishes on the menu to us. She gave us her recommendations and was attentive to what we needed at all times. The food 10 points! To start, we ordered a crab empanada (very delicious) along with the bread that they bring you complimentary. As main dishes we tried the crab volcano and the black hake, both exquisite. Don't forget to try the black hake, it is a unique experience!!! The entire experience was spectacular, the attention, the view and the food make it the best gastronomic experience in Ushuaia. We simply loved it, from coordinating the reservation on the same day, the reception, the presentation of the menu, the charisma and friendliness of our hostess and her chef. And the best: their dishes. We tasted the crab empanadas, the mesita volcano and sea locro. Our 5-year-old son had the children's menu of fish and potatoes Milanese, which he loved. We first went in 2017, we always come back and the quality of the food and service is maintained. The environment also contributes to make the experience something special. The oyster dish I consider somewhat scarce and I have eaten them better elsewhere, I would not order it again, but the volcano of centolla is second to none and very abundant.

Big disappointment

Encouraged by the reviews we traveled 65 km from Ushuaia to eat fresh fish and possibly centolla, but the crab was not there and the fish, except the black cod, was not fresh. They brought us a truly inedible mixture of shellfish: certainly not freshly prepared (but what does it take, 5 minutes!) and heated before serving, it featured mussels that were now overcooked, some large dried-up clams, squid tentacles the size of leather, a hardened prawn, all in a greyish broth where already shelled brown mussels were floating, dirty with sand from seafood that had not been purged. I felt cheated, do they really think that as tourists we don't know what fresh fish is? It's a shame because the place is very nice as is the couple who run it. The cod and homemade sandwiches were very good, but it was definitely not worth the trip.

Every time we travel to USHUAIA we try to get away to Puerto Almanza so we can enjoy lunch at La Mesita. We love the crab they prepare and the attention and dedication with which they serve each of the diners. Don't forget to book in advance as sometimes it is difficult to get a place. Excellent dishes!!

We booked and went from Ushuaia. An incredible place to enjoy with the family. Loana was attentive to everything, she advised us on the dishes, and Ricardo the chef made us enjoy excellent dishes with seafood from the port. We ordered dishes to share and that way we were able to try different dishes. The desserts were exquisite! Finally they treated us to an excellent coffee. Thank you and congratulations!!!

What a great time we had! A beautiful place, with a warm atmosphere and beautiful views. It is small, it has few tables and that makes it very cozy. The attention, impeccable. They went out of their way to give us a nice experience. We tried the crab empanadas, delicious. Then we tried two dishes: the seafood volcano with a gratin and cream, and mussels that had a very rich and special flavor thanks to the method of preparation with bacon, among other things. Excellent lunch experience at this place. Warm, comfortable and good conversation with Daniel and Loana learning about the place, fishing, history, Argentina and life Beyond that we ate a crab volcano that was delicious and in relation to price/quality it is very reasonable If I ever come back, I'll definitely stop by here!

Our favorite restaurant in Almanza. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, beautiful view of the Beagle Channel, sea menu, with excellent taste in the entire selection, and outstanding service at all times. Excellent place! Very good attention to the girls and the dishes... of the best!! Each better than another! Prices are also very good. Affordable and inviting to repeat!! Excelent choice away from the city

We went with a group of friends for lunch. It was the best meal I had in Ushuaia at a very reasonable price. The restuarant is very small so you need to make a reservation. Almanza is a very quite fishing tiny village and the way to Almanza (ruta J) is very scenic. We combined it with a visit to Harberton and it was a wonderful day! Do not miss it.

Even better than expected

I’d heard great things about the restaurant which can often lead to disappointment because you end up “hyping” the experience. However, I can say “La Mesita” lived up to the hype and some more. You just need to make sure to reserve your spot ahead of time and consider the hour and a half drive from Ushuaia. The restaurant is quite small, with only room for about 20 people and the menu is very small too, which is great cause it means each dish is cooked to perfection. All of the dishes are seafood based, with shrimp, king crab, mussels, octopus and hake options, featuring pasta, rice or potatoes. We tried 5 different dishes and everyone was really happy. We also had the chocolate volcano for dessert which was delicious. Compared to the other restaurants in the city and considering we were having king crab, I found the prices reasonable: all of the dishes were under $400. It was quite an experience, eating in a tiny fishing village facing the Beagle channel and seeing the cook right behind us cooking. I definitely recommend all food lovers visiting Ushuaia to take the time to visit this incredible restaurant.
