A thoroughly enjoyable evening, although with mixed results from the chef.
We shared a local starter, a Tamal Senteno, which was a rather bland mix of corn, vegetables and beef, but not an expensive experiment. Unable to resist the sirloin steak on the menu, mine was cooked to perfection (pink in the middle) and perfectly seasoned; unfortunately my partner’s was cooked rare rather than medium-rare, and she was too reluctant to return it for some additional grilling, so a large part of it remained uneaten. This was entirely her decision: if had been served to me I would have returned it without hesitation. However, her accompanying chips were excellent, whilst I spent some time separating hard peas from the arrozo on my plate.
The restaurant redeemed itself by serving a stupendous walnut and meringue cake to my partner, who was rendered speechless by the beauty and taste of it.
Meanwhile the guitarist and singer (who appeared to be brothers) were very well received by the locals who appeared to be familiar with all of their repertoire, but for us non-Spanish (well, with limited Spanish) the songs were a little repetitive but nonetheless charming in their own way.
I certainly wouldn’t put anyone off from visiting this place, but perhaps make your booking from 9.00pm when the place is a little more lively.

What an evening! We thought that the accent may be on the music and dancing and did not necessarily have high expectations about the food, but we were wrong: the dishes were among the best ones we ate in the region! We had a very good salad, a milanesa de queso (= fried breaded cheese) and a steak. On top of that, the wonderful authentic music and dancing created an amazing joyful atmosphere (especially after a local choir came in and some of the members started singing too). We also liked that the place was not too big and tastefully decorated. Oh, let's not forget the super friendly waiters! Definitely recommend!

Really nice restaurant with traditional food options. The Pena performers were superb, the two singers & the dancers put on a great performance. The food itself was pretty good. Service at the start was good but, once the performance started, slowed down considerably. The staff seemed more interested in the performance than the customers. That said, they were very pleasant when you could get their attention.

I recently visited this restaurant in Argentina with my family, including three hungry kids aged 2, 8, and 11. We ordered three medium-rare steaks, but they arrived cold and appeared to be leftovers. When we asked for them to be changed, the staff simply reheated the same steaks in oil, which was completely unacceptable.
The situation was especially frustrating because our young children were really hungry, but the food was inedible.
