My family and I visited this restaurant for dinner on a recommendation by a local. It was superb and we even visited a second time during our short time in Salta. The food is excellent, the service amazing and the atmosphere is exceptional as we sat outside in their garden. Highly recommended.

Traditional, lively, great service, magic atmosphere! This is an experiance not to be missed! Fantastic local & traditional food, great music and dancing. As 5 random travellers we got a local recommendation and it was spot on, we all had a ball! One of our best nights in Argentina and combined we had been travelling here for over a year! We had a vegan and she had plenty of options too. The staff were super friendly and helpful too. Mostly locals and very popular! It really felt like a genuine experiance and clearly loved by the locals young and old.

Quite the scene! Loved the folklore and the food was very good too! Order from the parrilla and you won´t be disappointed. Great wines to pair with as well. Went there with 3 friends and had a lot of fun singing.

We made reservations because everyone raved about the place. It sits 350 people, so you can’t expect to find the best food here. Dinner was entertaining with live music, but the food was average at best. Very touristy but overrated. I would not return.

Great tasting food in very rustic and simple rooms. Had my first tamale here snd it was very good. We were all impressed with everything. Some good vegetarian options aswell.

My husband was really looking forward to this! We messaged on the whatsapp and made a reservation for 9pm. We ordered four empanadas - and they were excellent! We got the Sangria - it was tasty - but very weak. At 10:15 we still didn't have our food. At 10:30 we finally got our food. My husband ordered a rare steak - and it was beyond well done. I ordered the Locro. I've had three locro's this week. This one was completely flavorless. We have been traveling for over 4 weeks and this was easily our worst meal. We actually sent both back it was so bad. Additionally, we left at 11pm, and there was still no music in the outdoor patio section. It seems random where the music is played. So disappointed in this place.

A really amazing place. People queuing before opening time. But now we know why. Atmospheric and wonderful food. Our best choice in Salta

It was our last night in Argentina and people recommanded a special night at this place. When we arrived by taxi , lines of people stood waiting for the gate. There were guards security on that gate who were ARMED with GUNS !!! The chef let in who had reservation but is was not a nice way to be welcomed. Tables were relocated so as much as possible guests could be stuffed in the restaurant is maximum profit. We had 10 cm at each side left. The food was terrible and nothing special. A dry cheese empanada with minimum cheese. Talking and enjoying was not possible at all because of the noise. Every room had his own guitar player and the music conflicted a lot of times. You must know the argentina folk songs to sing and enjoy. The whole atmosphere was pretty artificial ! We ran away as soon as the main dish was finished and even did not wait for the desert ..... witch was included.

...but if you want to experience how locals spend their Friday evenings definitely go. We came back from a pretty stressful driving day and just wanted to have a good relaxing dinner with a good glass of wine. Our tour operator booked us in la Casona, bad idea. Food and wine are ok price is ok, but for that price you can get better food and wine in other places in salta. But the real bugger was in the setting, the place is a victim of its success, we were squeezed in a room with double the amount of tables it could handle, a nice Chinese man was practically put on my lap, and then there was what I’d call my Argentinian fado experience, a guy with a guitar sitting on one of the tables starts singing Argentinian drama songs and all the locals sing along, not a quit nice dinner evening. Bottom line’ if you want to know what keeps argentinians awake at night, and your Spanish is good enough to understand the songs, go there, if you want to have a good dinner, go somewhere else.

Entering the place you will feel like a local, it‘s a traditional restaurant in an old house with a lot of rooms. In each room someone is playing the guitar and singing. The food is sooo yummy and not expensive like in the restaurants around the main square. Here you will enjoy a real argentinian experience, it‘s a must! I highly recommend this place!

This old house has retained all the chairs of its antique architecture while attracting a clientele that is often both local and young. it opens promptly at 9pm and seats people in order of arrival unless you book ahead. The food is local Salta regional fare and is superlative. The ambience is warm, the service prompt, and it is a casual place.

When you call to make a reservatoon, the phone will just tell you the hours of operation, leading you to assume thatno reservations are needed. FALSE! Without a reservation you may just get a table in a room or patio where nothing happens, while those that were lucky enough to get a person to answer the phone and make a reservation enjoy argentine folk music in a separate room. In short, a scam. If you want to go to a peña, dont come here, go to a peña.

You should not go to the Casona del Molino expecting a great culinary experience. This is not to say that the food is not good. Everything we ordered was quite good, actually. The decor is simple, very basic, with old wooden tables and chairs. However, what distinguishes this place is the vibe. Don't go early, say, before 9:30 pm. We got there at 10 pm and could still get a table for four. By 10:30 pm, getting a table was already difficult. But the real action starts at about 11 pm when people start playing folk music and singing, sometimes in more than one spot simultaneously, given that there are several rooms. It is a beautiful experience, not to be missed while in Salta.

We went to a few Pinas in Salta and the exoerience we had here was by far the best. Although it's a large place with several rooms it gets very busy with locals and tourists for good reason. It has such a good atmosphere. Later in the evening local musicians arrive with their instruments and settle into one of the various rooms. They sing traditional folk songs just for the love of singing. This is not a staged show and so we got to hear lots of different musicians singing with passion.

It was far from the center. Food and drinks were expensive and disappointing and the worse was that there was no music as it depends on the clients who want to sing or play any. By 11:30pm, a couple of guys started to sing poorly and we only saw one other guy with a guitar, so decided to call it a night. Other better options in Salta to listen to good music from professionals!
