Looked for an authentic Mexican restaurant while traveling back to Mesa and found this one on line. Wonderful atmosphere, quick and efficient service, and a really good menu. Fresh ingredients and large portions made for a nice meal to end the day. Recommend if you're looking for the real thing with a pleasant atmosphere!

Macayo's is always consistent with their food, nothing fancy but always tasty ! We come for the cheese crips and fajitas ! We like this location because you can sit outside with a relaxing view of the small lake very nice ambiance. Sip on a cold beer and enjoy your meal. Only negative is it is hard to stop eating... I went there with my grandma of 90 and my mom. We could sit there and talk without the place being so loud you could hear the person across from you. The guac was great and the chimmis were huge. On Tuesday you can get the high end margarita for less than the generic one.

While visiting Phoenix, we met family at Macayos. Atmosphere, upstairs is typical sports bar. Downstairs is more intimate. Some seating outside near the lake is nice, although the temperature on our night was near 90 degrees, early evening. But, that's Phoenix. Food typical Mexican fare and pretty good, not exceptionally good. It was stove hot, with large portions. Wait staff... More

This is my favorite place to eat in Mesa. It's always super busy on the floor below, but you can go upstairs to the bar area and it's much quieter and faster service. The margaritas (blended house ones) are simply divine, especially if you invest in a Bob or Cha-Cha mug ($12). The chimichangas (favorite is the Chimi Macayo) are... More

We went on a Friday night during Happy Hour and the place was packed! There was only a 30 minute wait and we got to sit outside. If you do sit outside, try to sit on the water side - it's a little prettier & cooler - but we were fine in the front as we had a 1 &... More

Slow service but average to good food and portions. Enjoyed the prickly pear margaritas!! Prices seemed a bit high...

I ate here back in the 80's and this restaurant had an above average reputation. Unfortunately that is no longer the case...at all. The overpriced margarita was served to me in a beer glass. The bottled Mexican beer was warm. They had the audacity to charge $1.30 for a side of pico de gallo and my $13 chicken chimi tasted... More

We have patronized this restaurant for decades. The offerings change over time. Again the menu has changed slightly and the decor has been changed. And the food is still great! The waitress worked extra hard to assure that we were satisfied with our orders and the orders were prepared rapidly.
