The Janio is located at the lively and cool Plaza Immigrantes de Armenia in hip Palermo and offers a look at the square and the nearby action that usually takes place in the evening. The Gastro-Bar specializes in grill food and argentinian specialities and is a good choice for a stop, when no restaurant in particular is aimed at and... More

Good to stop in when en route for a coffee or beer. Appetizers were good (taquitos). Indoor or outdoor seating.

We just stopped for coffee and a snack. No complaints about the food & drink though it wasn't much of a test. But the service was really slow and inattentive. The place was not busy at all but it must have taken 15 minutes just to order. The wait staff just hang out in a back room ignoring customers, or... More

Another bad experience in Buenos Aires. We were looking for a cozy restaurant in the Palermo Área and after walk for few minutes we've found Janio. Waiter very friendly immediately showed us our table in the beautiful and warm terraza in the top of restaurant. 1st impression ok. Menu kind of expensive for the quality. We order 2 fried empanadas... More

Too expensive. Not comfortable tables and chairs. Just 1 waiter for like 20 tables... More that 20' to get a glas of wine ($80 pesos when regular price is $45/50). I'm not going again and don't recommend it.

Can't understand the ratings I see. If I could give negative stars I would. The breakfast buffet had the least selections I've ever seen - even counting free hotel buffets. The food that was there was mediocre at best and they did not refill eggs, sausages or juice, which were left empty for at least an hour. Water was dripping... More

If there is one thing you can count on in Argentina it is fresh white buns on the table, the other is sub standard service. Unfortunately Janio only has one of these. The menu offers typical Argentina fare in the heart of Palermo Soho. Our server was very kind but also very inattentive. The Cesar salad looked nice but was... More

On Sunday while walking the market at the plaza stopped at Janio for a cup of coffee Americano. Service was very good and I enjoyed sitting outside and watching the world go by.

The location is interesting, in the middle of a cool district, with tables in and out of the restaurant, you can have a whole lunch, dinner, or just a brunch. The prices maybe a bit higher than other places but you are paying for a corner with a view. I usually use the outdoor tables, so you can have a... More

Staying in Palermo

Neighbourhood Profile
Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
