I went there to try the wine only, so I have no input regarding the food. I thought the wine choices were very good and I really like that they had options of wine flights that enabled me to try several wines. I have two...criticisms. First, it was so dark that people were using the flashlights on their cell phones to read the menus. Second, they were playing Saturday night fever and other disco songs. Were they serious? Anyway, the staff was accommodating.More

I’ve asked for a simple glass of red wine (merlot) and they tried to charge me 5,500 pesos for it (which is 7x more than a normal glass and more than a bottle). When I confronted them, they returned some of the money back (but...not enough) Be careful, they seem to try to scam foreignersMore

Great place to go. We went in a big group, after a few days eating only parrillas, El Gran Bar Danzon is the right choice. All the foods and drinks were really good, especially the sushi. It is a mixture of bar and restaurant, but...even the restaurant part of it has a great environment, with low lights and the music is really awesome, perfect to talk and enjoy the night.More

I’m finishing my meal at this bar at this very moment, in fact! I came here on my own during my work trip. The staff here is very friendly and offered a warm welcome. Portions seemed to be biggish for one so I was kindly...offered by Ignacio (the guy behind the bar) to order half a portion and to be charged accordingly , Ignacio also was so kind to match wine to my taste and which was not on the menu as a matter of fact(as I wanted wine by glass). I loved my sushi and sashimi and the recommended wine. Only one little remark, the waiters did not seem to be very attentive and if not for Ignacio, who later appeared to be a sommelier, I doubt I’d give this place the top mark! Five stars on this occasion!More

For years already one of Buenos Aires' places to be. Good wines, cocktails and fine international/local cuisine. Always crowded, so necessary to reserve.

Been in BA for a few days and wanted to drink some nice cocktails. We found Gran Bar Danzon by chance and were very happily surprised. Barkeeps who really know what they are doing, friendly staff who knew what to recommend. We went even back...a second time. - The sushi and the normal food was good. Some of the specials were really great. Overall, we had a great time.More

We were returning, after our last visit in 2013, and I am pleased to say it was just as good as previously. Up a dark stairwell, not really visible from the street, this has a bit of a louche vibe. We were booked into the...Restaurant, and were probably a little early for portenos, but it soon filled up and the DJ started. Dishes remain eclectic, but the flavours combine well on the plate, even if you sometimes need your iPhone torch to see what you are eating.More

We went there on Sunday 11 PM. We wanted something light, and this was a perfect place for us, and not far from our stay in Recoleta. We sat at a bar and ordered 'sushi' and a couple of small dishes (seafood) along with wine...by a glass. Food was very good. There was not many choices for wine by a glass compare to extensive wine menu. We tried a few different wines by glasses which probably cost more than a bottle of wine. I previously read some reviews about staff service. I can not say super friendly but they were courteous. We had very good conversation with a bartender. Great place for late night food and wine without loud music nor loud crowds with stylish atmosphere.More

Thankfully we were there on a Monday night and it wasn’t crowded, but I’m sure it gets crowded, because it’s so good! One of our best meals in Buenos Aires. Yummy wine with a friendly, knowledgeable sommelier. And Javier- one of the best bartenders! Dark...and nice ambiance. We ate 3 different vegetarian options, all delicious: veggy sandwich, butternut squash ravioli and the kale portobello sushi (which I could eat every day!) English spoken.More

My sister and I had dinner here last night, and we loved the food! We completely walked by the place the first time since it was just a door leading upstairs. The space itself is dark - we were given a mini-flashlight to read the...menu. Most of the staff speak a little English - they also have an English menu if you need it. We had the ceviche, the soft boiled and mushroom croquetta appetizer, the squid ink risotto, and a dulce de leche meringue dessert. The food had balanced and unique flavors and was cooked perfectly. My favorite was the ceviche with fresh salmon and ginger undertones. We were very well taken care of by Javier, one of the bartenders. He provided great food and wine recommendations throughout the night. We will definitely be back for another meal before we leave Argentina!More

Upscale, beautifully decorated and modern, hip atmosphere. Food is very good. Wine menu of the richest I’ve seen in Argentina. And then comes the attitude. Wow, they think the sun shines out of their... As we came in, they argued that we reserved for 21:30...which was the time we called to reserve, while the reservation was for 22:15 - the exact time we came. There was plenty of seats, so there was no reason for a debate, yet the hostess enjoyed picking one. The waiter let us struggle with Spanish and only after we asked, showed a perfect English. The menus all came in Spanish and again - after asking, English menus appeared. My Vegan daughters asked about Vegan options and the waiter plainly said - ‘no, there’s nothing’. Only after my daughter explained that we called and they said there are a few options he said he can ask the chef what he can do. To my daughter’s request of just making a simple vegetable sushi, which is an option in any Japanese restaurant, he answered: ‘no, it’s too complicated’. All attempts to break the ice and get a warmer attitude, including mentioning it’s my daughter’s birthday, didn’t help much. The food was really good, the choices of wines are very nice and we had some good cocktails. Another surprise was a 75 pesos cover charge per person, which has really no justification and not acceptable in other places in Buenos Aires. We had a great time despite the attitude and the food was delicious. Yet, the place really needs to upgrade their service and attention to customers.More
