If you are looking for a very good restaurant specializing in Argentina Beef, El Mirasol de la Recova should be on your list. The quality of beef is excellent and the service team is friendly and professional.

Four of us had a very nice dinner on a Saturday night - get reservations! My wife and I shared a 600 gram (about 21 oz.) beef filet, which was cooked beautifully medium-rare. The table also shared a platter of grilled vegetables - maybe 7 different kinds - and a plate of very thin, crispy French fries. We tried the... More

Serving mainly meat and offal this is a local parillia. Portions are alarmingly large! We were warned but ignored this and opted for a starter as well as a main course. Fast education in Argentinian dining! The starters (veal kidneys for me, sausage for partner) would have made a meal in themselves so the arrival of the steaks + a... More

We were staying at the nearby Brick Hotel and had been told that there were several restaurants under the bypass. We opted for this one after viewing the menu and seeing how busy it was inside. There is a cover charge of 55 pesos per person. We shared a piece of rump steak with some potatoes and a bottle of... More

We went here because of the ratings. The steak is different than USA beef. It is denser, but juicy. A good but different tasting steak that many may find, including us, a bit disappointing . Potatoes were very good and so was the service. A pleasant steakhouse worth a visit, but understand, the beef is from a different breed &... More

El Mirasol is conveniently located near the edge of Recoleta, a couple steps from the Four Seasons Hotel. Everything here, decor, service, grilled meats, wines and deserts, is first rate and has been so for an extended period of years.

Started off with a beef empanada, it was delicious. Had a nice bottle of wine, they have a great selection. For our main meal got the Kobe steak, two of us split one serving. We had thin french fries and creamed spinach on the side. For dessert we had their tiramisu - homemade and wonderful. Overall this was the best... More

I have eaten here many times over the years and I still love it! The best steak in town! If you want your steak rare make sure you specify "bien jugoso" because argentines tend to like their steak medium. The macrobiotic salad is my favourite! Great wine list! Well worth it! I go again and again and know it will... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
