To start, the restaurant automatically charges you ~$63 pesos per person (aka cubiertos) as a seat charge and includes some bread (fine print below the postre menu). Food was just average and the waiter ended up charging us for 2 of the premium glasses of wine although we ordered the house ($129 vs $90 pesos). We are two fluent Spanish... More

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here with locals. They accommodated our special requests, the wine was well selected, and the ambiance was really exciting.

This was the best dinner we had in Buenos Aires. We went to 5-star grilles, local restaurants recommended by friends and internationally acclaimed restaurants but this was by far the best. Busy, slightly chaotic, waiters very quick and knowledgeable, as Italian restaurants should be. Excellent Italian food, ambiance and service in a good neighbourhood. Do go!

In our 10 day stay we ate twice at Sottovoce. Pastas were excellent. Would highly recommend. Ground floor level is best location. Our hotel recommended, Alvear palace and they were right on. The manger, I think his name is John was excellent.

We had a delicious meal with excellent service. The baked pasta was fantastic. The wine selection was a little limited but they had some good choices.

Hearty Italian food, popular with the over 50 local crowd. Friendly, offering complementary sparkling or Aperal to start, and limoncello to cap the night.

I'm Italian and rarely I eat italian food outside Italy, but sometimes I need my dose of carbohydrates. This was a pricey food with poor quality. All the kind of pasta had the same tomato sauce with the same plain taste. At least the pasta was cook "al dente".

We were looking for an Italian meal to take a break from beef and found the perfect meal at Sottovoce. The menu is large and offers a good variety of selections. We had chicken with potato puree and gnocchi bolognese; both of which were delicious. The service was wonderful with the staff being extra helpful as we speak limited Spanish.... More

Had lunch there twice during my recent visit to Buenos Aires. The bread was spectacular. The poltenta, the salmon, and the gnocci were to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant to you.

Comfortable because the service is warm and inviting, though you will be near the neighboring table. The pasta, tortellini, crusty bread and olive oil are just so well served and prepared that you want to go back. The other patrons are so BA/Euro style and stylish with families around that you fit in no matter what your origin or home.

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
