Food was good not great. Dining room was very bright , ie too much lighting, needed to turn down the wattage some. I felt like I was in a hotel restaurant. Seemed to be populated by affluent locals and upscale tourists. It felt a little too stuffy for my tastes. If you are looking for this kind of place you... More

Great location near the Recoleta cemetery. Small, intimate, nicely decorated restaurant. Their lunch prix fixe menu is a fantastic option. Great value. Their à la carte menu is also adequately priced. Service was prompt and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

An upmarket and elegant place with essentially an Italian menu. The food was good although in my opinion rather fussy; an Italian would not recognise some of the dishes as "authentic " although that does not really matter if they are enjoyable, which they generally are. Service was good, wine list strong. A nice atmosphere if you want a "smart"... More

Over the years I came four times to enjoy the food at "La Pecora Nera". The place is wonderfully decorated with great atmosphere. This last visit I found the food-experience quite poor: the Filet Rossini was overcooked, while the waiter never asked how I would have wanted the meat to be cooked. My guest's Shrimp Risotto was tasteless and dull.... More

Wonderful Italian Restaurant with top level service and delicious food. I ordered steak based on a recommendation from an acquaintance and it was fantastic! Perfectly cooked with some cracked black pepper in a mushroom sauce. My mouth is still watering! My wife had the Spinach Ravioli in a light tomato based sauce. Also outstanding! The decor is lovely and prices... More

Fabulous raviolis, amazing seafood salad, solid wine recommendation, a world class joint. Popular with affluent locals.

My Husband thought this was one of the best Italian Restaurants that he had visited. He really enjoyed his food. I chose a simple Artichoke dish as my starter followed by ravioli in a broth. I found both of these whilst being the small portions that I desired were too rich with too much sauce but having said this they... More

This restaurant is a little tricky to find, it only has a small name on the door, The restaurant is also a little challenging to get into, you try to open the door to no avail, I think they keep it locked or the door gets stuck, but after a while someone in the restaurant notices you trying to get... We chose this restaurant because it was highly ranked and close to our hotel. It's very cozy and romantic. They have an extensive wine list. We had the turkey and cheese tortellini and it was the best pasta I've eaten. We got the almond chicken and a steak which were good, but we both wished we had gotten more pasta.... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
