Went to this place with my wife after reading the positive reviews. Great steak and a wide ranging wine selection. Thought the prices were fair, $55 for 2 mains and a bottle of wine. Good atmosphere but could dim the lights a bit more at night. One downside was the waiter explicitly asking for a cash tip on top of... More

Came here for my first steak dinner in Buenos Aires.Having traveled the rest of the country for the past few weeks was expecting a lot especially after seeing the Sunday lunch crowd. The place, service and ambiance was good.Potatoe yum.Wine reasonably priced compared to later meals in Buenos Aires but the steak never bet some of my previous Argentinan steak dinners.Overall... The food here is absolutely excellent and the prices are extremely reasonable. They also have good staff. Unless you have a giant appetite, I would suggest that one steak can feed two people. The same goes for the sides and appetizers... they are all very generous. Forget about La Brigada and other tourist traps, this is the place where the... More

Forget about La Cabrera, La Cabaña, Cabaña Las Lilas and all this places we are tired f being recommend to go. Those are all touristic places with a pretty regular food. Gran Parilla del Plata has the best steak I've ever tasted in BA (I've been there for 3 times). Great place, great staff, great foods. The sizes are HUGE.... More

We wanted to try steakhouses close to our hotel but of the kind that locals visit versus tourist traps. I believe we succeeded here. We knew that it didn't open until 8, so we arrived about 8:10 and were unable to get a table inside because we didn't have reservations. We were seated at a table on the sidewalk which... More

This place was recommended by the hotel I was staying at and was about 15 minutes walk away. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive even though the place was packed early on a Tuesday night (would recommend booking in advance). Food (baby beef and fries) was all spot on, as was the wine. Atmosphere was great. About as good... More

We chose to visit here as it was close to our hotel and recommended by the staff there. We visited twice in a week and were very pleased both times. The staff were fabulous and were eager to cater to whatever you needed. They suggested wines to compliment the steaks and told us about ordering too much! All of us... More

We had the asado. Portions are huge. It was good food, not great mind you. Good ambience but a tad noisy at peak hours. Service for the bill was slow...! Really slow. Maybe everyone was just laid back...

We visited this restaurant as it was walking distance from our hotel. We'd read the great reviews but our primary aim was not to have to walk too far after a busy day in BA. We'd been unable to book so were a little nervous about being able to get a table on a Saturday night. We arrived just in... More

I had a big ribeye steak here and I was not left wanting. The portion size was huge! The sides were nice and really good 'silver-type' service.

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
