We chose this restaurant because of the good reviews on TA as well as the fact that it was a reasonable walk from our hotel (Claridge). Two steak dinners, fries, broccoli, and beers totaled $60 U.S. The side dish of broccoli at $10 was the only thing that was a bit expensive. Our waiter brought uncooked steaks out on a... More

We arrived on a Sunday evening. Our dress was perhaps a little casual and we were shown into the back room. That's fine. Indeed we could view the cooking at close quarters. The back room seemed to be where non-locals were seated. Service was friendly and attentive. There was however some mis-communication in ordering and our salad had not been... More

From the outside, this place looks worn. But enter into a warm atmosphere, aromas, and some great steak. Ojo de bife 300 gms. for 2, cold potatoes with parsley (better than it sounds!), sauteed spinach (ditto), and professional service. Go.

Had steaks here, my husband ordered his well done and I ordered mine rare but both came well done as the waiter didn't write the order down so I had to send it back and then got a perfectly cooked one by which time my husband had finished his. We ordered one portion of chips to share but when we... More

Greeted at the door. Table of our choice. Beautiful tablecloths and napkins. Had their recommendation in steak with scrumptious chips and a bottle of Malbec wine. Simple but oh so delicious. The staff and ambience excellent. Will probably go again in a day or two!

Very authentic argentinian steakhouse I visit for the last 20 years, whenever I am in Buenos Aires. Good for lunch and dinner. Best meat, I love it! Nice typical atmosphere, also many locals.

Very tasty steaks. We got there at 8pm on a rainy Sunday night and the place was packed. Make sure you make a reservation. Service above average. Loved the spinach in garlic and olive oil and potatoes as a side. Almond desert ice cream was also a treat. Inexpensive by Australian standards. Enjoyed the whole experience.

We went here on our first week in Buenos Aires. It was just a random choice while we were just getting settled. It was an excellent find. Now that we have been here for almost 3 months. This meal both in portion size and price is still in our top 5 dinners in Buenos Aires. We had good polite service.

Wonderful meal cooked perfectly! My husband and I split an enormous T-bone steak and it was delicious. Great prices and service as well. Full of local diners.

This is a long established , rather bourgois grill, with hanging hams and other rustic decorations. We were greeted well and shown to a table for 4. When two acquaintances came in unexpectedly the management expanded our table to 6 without any fuss. There is a long menu of starters and mains, including many Argentinian specialities. So many appetizing dishes were... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
