This is an old fashioned restaurant specialising in steaks. The night we went there was no music, which was a blessing compared to the boom boom stuff in some. This is not a hip hop joint but a friendly family style establishment. The room was quite large and bright which dampened the atmosphere a little; so not necessarily a romantic... More

We fortuitously came across this restaurant one evening, and it was truly a fantastic experience. The service was impeccable, food was of high quality, portions were large, and there was ample selection for everyone. We would highly recommend this restaurant for all guests - family or otherwise.

Choice for dinner of a colleague so met him there with another associate. From the outside nothing special at all. Inside as well basic decor and on the night (Friday) a bit crowded. But upon being seated service was efficient and not obtrusive. Had roasted peppers as a starter, colleagues had the seafood salad. They indicated their choice as very... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and the food was tasty - unlike a lot of food in Argentina. Nice seafood menu which was great as the country is beef-oriented and we don't eat beef . Ordered a half portion of the seafood stew and it was too much for 2 of us. Excellent flavour Got really excited with a... More

What a fabulous restaurant in a traditional Buenos Aires style, famous for its fish, steak and ham. Our waiter has been here for 25 years, starting as a bus boy rising to his current position, impeccable service and attitude. Prices were very reasonable, food excellent, a great experience highly recommended.

Not much else to say, if you're sick of Beef after a while in Buenos Aires, go for the fish at Dora. Would be a 5 star if the place looked a little better, but if you're not trying to impress your date, go for it and you won't regret

Dora has a parrilla for both fish and meat.. Our guests were looking for a change from lomo, so we tried Dora. Other porteno (local) friends had recommended the restaurant, having been there years ago. Unfortunately, the sole and swordfish were not the best. The Dora cazuela (seafood stew) was pretty good, although that too was a bit chewy at... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
