I had the venison dish (not sure if it was springbok or gemsbok), and was way overcooked. For its high rating, super overrated in my opinion.

Visiting the winelands with friends on Easter Sunday without a booking for lunch is not too intelligent but we took our chances. While doing a bit of wine tasting at Clos Malverne in Stellenbosch we decided that although the restaurant was fully booked we would have to try and beg a table. We were here a few years ago for... We were staying at a place nearby and were looking for a place to have a simple lunch. That didn't work out at Clos Malverne... Cause the food/wine pairing menu is much more economic than the separate courses, we decided to give it a try. The first starter wasn't convincing me, but the chicken liver terrine, springbok loin and fillet... More

Great food, great wine. Food and wine pairing event once a month is superb with chef and wine maker giving a talk before each course. The best idea I think is to go for spa treatments during the day, then the food and wine pairing dinner and sleep over.

Had lunch with our UK family and this restaurant is absolutely superb! Food was beautifully presented and spectacularly delicious. Views from table need to be seen to be believed! SO... More

Being first time visitors to this area and surrounded by a such wonderful options, it was almost impossible to make a decision. After reading several reports we decided on clos malverne because the chef seemed to have similar thoughts on food as we have.We were not disappointed. Position, ambience and atmosphere were just right. Service excellent and well informed even though... More

The venue is beautiful. The air coming through the open walls was refreshing. The staff was polite. The food was delicious. However, little lapses in service (such as our having to ask three times for rolls) and an exceedingly leisurely pace (slow to the point where we ultimately gave up on coffee, if we hoped to see anything else that... This a must if you are in the area and want a lunch. We booked well in advance and were able to get one of the balcony tables providing an incredible view of the vineyard, in the shadow of mountains. The lunch is a 4 course matching wines taster menu (there is also an a la carte menu) - the... More
