The fine dining experience with a personal touch. Jenny and Alban have a winning recipe in terms of ambiance, service and fine food. What makes it even more special is where their guests are invited into the kitchen and entertained with what is on the manue for the evening. The food is simply awesome. Remember to take your own wine,... More

This is not a restaurant but a catering school in a residential house that runs a dinner service every wednesday. The setup is like a restaurant around a large open kitchen where the husband and wife team demonstrate the cooking of your set dinner as part of your evening. They are like a modern day Fanny craddock and husband but... More

Stayed overnight and dined in the ringside seat in the kitchen. It was the most memorable restaurant experience I've ever had. If you have a love of food and cooking this is as good as it gets. Watch and eat. Be charmed and entertained by the most wonderful hosts, Jenny and Albin. They should be on tv. Staff so friendly... More

We have enjoyed many evenings at Kilzers kitchen but last night was probably the best ever! Jennifer and Albin always serve the most fantastic food in a warm, friendly and entertaining ambience. There was another guest from Ireland who surprised us all and stood up to sing at the end of the evening- what a treat! Great night - thank... More

Kilzer's Kitchen is a cooking school where the owners host a once-a-week “Cook ‘n Look” dinner. This was an outstanding experience as we were seated right in front of the kitchen. There were several other groups of couples there, most seated away from the action, and unable to see what was going on. Meanwhile we had a great view as... More

This amazing experience is normally only open for dinner once a week on Wednesday so advance booking is essential but if you want good food and entertainment this is the place. A pre-dinner comedy routine with Jenny telling the jokes before Aubin describes the dinner set the evening off to a great start, good food with super service resulted in... More

This was our second time to Kilzers and the food and fun was fabulous once again. This will be on our must do list every time we visit Knysna. The main course lamb dish was the best we have had in South Africa

Be prepared for a long evening as this is not your usual restaurant it's a dining experience. You can watch your food being prepared and listen to the witty cometary. We had a 5 course meal and every course was superb. Just to whet your appetite the rare roast sirloin main course was followed by a fresh fruit meringue roulade... More

Description
Type of Cuisine - South African Part of Kilzers Kitchen Cookery School - this restaurant operates on Wednesday evenings only for the public. The format is basically as follows : Our guests 19:00 in the evening - bringing along their own wife and their own wine ....no corkage charges at all ( for the wife or the wine ). These dinners are hosted weekly ( Wednesdays) from the beginning of November - end of April annually. Upon arrival guests are welcomed by our waiters ( as we are frantically busy in the kitchen )--- and given appetizers to nibble on, as well as a "welcome drink" - at present our flavour of the Month - a home made Limoncello - to warm them up on a cold Winter's evening, or cool them down on a hot summer's evening. At approximately 7:30 for 7:45 we welcome all our guests to the open-plan kitchen, where we give them a complete run-down re: the dinner for the evening. Starters & main courses are prepared in full view of the guests as they congregate around the kitchen area, along with our famous joke telling - a bit of "Kitchen Theatre". After this guests return to their individual tables, ( laid up as per customer reservation ), and the meal commences with a starter, followed by main course ,dessert, coffee/ tea and biscuits to end the meal. Everything edible is prepared in our kitchen - including the apperitif, as already mentioned. All in all, it is an evening celebrating food, more food, fun, and of course, the guest's own choice of wines - which are sometimes dodgy, other times magnificent - all depending on individual taste. The atmosphere is a party atmosphere, and the noise level is generally high and festive.........Enjoyment of the evening is up to you. We would love to welcome you and look forward to a visit from you and whoever you wish to bring along.............wife, lover, mother- in- law............. We cater for any special requests, e.g vegetarians, gluten intolerant or any other food allergies. Please advise beforehand.
