Raj remains well entrenched in our favorite 5 restaurants in Cape Town, out of some 50 plus we have tried. Service is always excellent, with the chef not hesitating to come out to reveal some of his secrets. He pointed us to some unusual masalas which we sourced locally, brought back home with us, and are currently thoroughly enjoying. The... More

The Raj is situated on the peripheries of a suburban shopping center the food is very good and tasty service feels at times a little insincere but the food tends to wash over that .the price range is in my opinion is expensive and this tends to keep patrons away

We called in for a curry rather than a steak/burger dinner. It was early evening and quite quiet. We were shown to a nice table and had good service and nice food at the spiciness levels we wanted. Overall a lovely meal and we recommend the restaurant.

Went here as was really craving Indian food. It was very good. The flavours were good and the service was very good. The only downside is that they don't do half portions of the vegetarian dishes. These should be sides and available in smaller sizes. Otherwise excellent.

Think my title says it all. The food was really really good but for SA it was a bit pricey. Fried chillies were hot but great as a nibble to start with poppadoms. We had chicken booner and dal makhani and a bread each. With three beers, was £30. Worth a visit, gave me the spice hit and not greasy.

The service & atmosphere were good but the curries were really sub-standard! The meat was chewy & the spices were aggressively unsubtle. There is a choice with the lamb curries to have it on the bone or off the bone & I chose on the bone but I ended up with a plate of 90% bones with a really nasty... More

My wife and I celebrated Valentines Day at this restaurant. We have the Tandoori prawns and lamb samosas as starters. The prawns were big, packed with flavour, but the samosas were bland and a little disappointing. The lamb roganjosh and chef's special were exquisite. Like many other reviews, I also believe the rice/naan price is excessive after already forking out... More

We had an excellent early dinner on a Sunday. First impressions were favorable. Lovely ambiance with clean appearance. This review starts with some compliments and concludes with some pointers for management. The food was outstandingly delicious. Five stars. At first there were only two of us in this large restaurant of at least 18 tables. We looked at the menu... More

We have been to The Raj on a few occasions and went back in Jan 2017 with friends from the UK who also love Indian food. We were disappointed to see that they do not include rice with the meal. In the past, rice has been included. Surely, if you order a curry, rice should be part of the meal... More
