The restaurant is set under a large tree and consists of what seems to be a few containers linked together with a glass atrium in the centre. It was busy when we arrived and there are limited tables - we had to share a large table with other people. The food is good. There were a number of afogatos on... More

Hubby and I managed to slip in a quick breakie inbetween some birthday shopping for our little one. Few and far between mornings out on our own, we decided to make the best of it and try out Freedom Cafe! We were not disappointed sharing the Egg Benedict and full house. We are usually fussy when it comes to the... More

Not the easiest place to find as it is nettled in the side streets however well worth looking for. The menu is varied and excellent. The staff are very good and prices are reasonable. I recommend for a memorable lunch

Recently had a lovely brunch at Freedom Cafe, but have also eaten there for lunch, and the food is always lovely. Service comes with a smile and the menu has a bit of something for everyone. Will definitely be back again soon!

I just loved the setting. However there were no decent prawns available for the Vietnamese rolls and trout was substituted which was not great. My partner ordered a curry which was average. For desert we ordered the chocolate cake and were very disappointed... dry texture and ordinary icing--no effort to make that cake special! This is such a magic place... More

The atmosphere and food were pretty good (quinoa bowl didn't have loads of taste but the smash and granola.bowl were great!) But the service needs some work. Had to hunt for our waiter to take our order, he forgot to put in two drinks, had to keep asking for water, etc. The waiters are really nice though and very apologetic... More

Well what can I say on a steaming hot summer Sunday to sit under the beautiful old tree and sip on a great cuppuchino and have wonderful breakfasts all with a bit of a twist or difference to the same old norm of eggs and bacon. The service was good and it was just really a great morning no one... More

Terrible service...we had to search for our waiter to take our order and then again to find out why a tapas platter was taking more than 45 minutes. A further wait of 20min yielded mediocre food that sorely lacked flavour. Never again.

Enjoyed the green robot juice and fish cakes, which were perfectly spiced and presented. It was a bit loud due to a baby shower taking place inside, but hey, it's a cafe. Managed to get some reading done despite the squealing!

Description
"free your mind, body and soul at Freedom Cafe; good food, great company and beautiful surroundings" The café-in-a-can is a concentrate of all we enjoy most in entertaining. It’s intimate, relaxed, and with décor by crack Egg Designs duo Roche and Greg Dry, unselfconsciously stylish. The menu, like the lady, evolves constantly, guided only by the mantra: ‘local, fresh, direct.’Guests watch through a hatch in the compact courtyard kitchen, even wander through this en route to the loo. They linger contentedly under trees strung with jam-jar lights and beaded dreams (‘joy,’ ‘love,’ ‘peace’), nursing cappy and cupcakes on yellow wire Egg rockers or black plastic daxie benches. Then as the shadow of neighbouring St Mary’s church spire creeps slowly across the sand.
